Getting There

Because Dam Square is just a short walk from Centraal Station, Amsterdam’s main transportation hub, it is very easy to reach in a number of ways. Since most of the sights are within walking distance of the centre of Amsterdam, it is easy to get around by foot to see the attractions. The city has conveniently activated the OV Chipcard, which allows passengers to use the trains, buses and trams with a single card. For the Dutch, bicycling is a way of life, so there are bikes for hire all over Dam Square for those who are feeling energetic.
