Windhoek Climate
Windhoek enjoys a semi-arid climate that ranges from warm to hot during the day and mild to chilly at night. The mildest months are June through August, when it rarely rains and the highs are only 20-23°C and lows are around 7-8°C. The rest of the year sees daily highs from 26-30°C.
Getting There & Around
Air travellers will arrive at Hosea Kutako International Airport, which is about 40 km from Windhoek. Ground travellers can get to town by car, train or bus. The main highways are the B1 and B2, which run north-south and east-west, respectively.
It is easy to get around Windhoek by foot, but there is also cheap public transportation such as “combies” or shared taxis. Combies use specific routes and charge flat fares. Rental cars are widely available from numerous agencies in town, or you can hire a private taxi if you prefer.
