Overall a great place to stay on the upper west side, the bed could have been a bit more comfortable, but when you're only in New York for 2 nights, there isn't that much time to sleep anyway. Well positioned for Broadway, lots of good restaurants on Amsterdam Ave within walking distance Free internet access in lobby, coffee maker in room & cookies, soft drinks & orange juice in small fridge. Will definitely stay there again

This hotel was great! The staff was super friendly, the room was so cozy, and it had a great location for being in the upper west side. Ask for a room in the back due to construction on the street if you want quite.

while not on the avenue (it's on 77th btw b'way & amsterdam), the staff is pleasant and helpful, my room was well designed and comfortable, a great location in the upper west side. Easy to hop a bus or train to travel anywhere in NYC. Walk to the American Museum of Natural History or NY Heritage Society.

Decor of the hotel was very chic. Staff was friendly as well as helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. It was a little small, which is to be expected in the city, but the view of the street was great. I would definatly stay there again. I would, however, advise that you check rates on the hotel's website first, as the Orbiz rate was $13/night higher than booking directly through the hotel

Room was a bit tiny, but that's to be expected for NYC. location is very close to the subway, making for easy transit to the local areas.

Room and bathroom very small. Reserved a King bed and received a Double. Location was good. $10 cab ride to pretty much anywhere. Staff was good and several "okay" restaurants close by. I question price vs. value.

There was nothing bad about On the Ave. The hotel was very clean, the staff very courteous. The downside with the amenities was there was no breakfast, only free coffee, and the wi-fi is uber bad. If you are in the lobby, the wi-fi is free and pretty decent. In our room on the 9th floor we couldn't stay connected to the lobby and to get wi-fi in your room it was $12/day or $50/week. I opted to pay for it one day just to try it out. It still was lousy. Your better off with your 3G connection or definitely 4G for all those with LTE. The room itself was pretty good, large HDtv with no HD programming, and the bed was king size, the mattress could have been a little more comfortable. The location of the hotel was decent. Close to the museums on the UWS and also to the 1 (terminal just on 79th) which pretty much goes everywhere on the west side. However, we were going between midtown and uptown a lot and we probably should have chosen a better location, like Central Park south. And they advertise that you can see Central Park from one of their balconies... but you really can't, its only two or three blocks away... but building block any view. Of course, Uptown its a lot less crowded and noisy. So that a plus.

Perfect getaway for our weekend in NY. Rooms are very clean and cozy. Bed was so comfortable. Everyone was super accommodating. The only disappointment was in-room internet was an additional charge. However it's free in the lobby. Convenient to Lincoln Center, Broadway and Central Park. Loved it! We will definitely return.

On half block off of Broadway at 77th, about 200 yards from a subway stop. Helpful staff, comfortable rooms. No bar or restaurant in the hotel, but many available in the area.

The hotel is in a wonderful vibrant and safe New York neighborhood just a 3 minute walk from the subway. That makes it a great place to be based for Lincoln center, Broadway, westside food, etc. The rooms are well-appointed, comfortable and clean. They are also pretty small, but not by New York City standards. There is an artistic modern style to them that we love. For some people, the poor lighting of the rooms will be annoying, especially if you are in one of the interior rooms where the windows look out onto a brick wall a few feet away. But we like those because they are quieter than being right on the street. We prefer this hotel to the big Midtown megachain hotels where there are always noisey crowds and rooms that are even smaller and service that is forgettable. Prices have climbed this year, but it's hard to find better deals for such a nice place in New York City. Be aware that the hotel doesn't have a dining room of any kind.

First, let it be known that Orbitz has the wrong address for the hotel so when you pull up to an empty lot at the address your prepaid hotel is supposed to be at, don't worry. I had read a review of the hotel where someone called it a "poor man's W". I can't tell you how dead on that description is. We had a standard room with a king size bed. The room was small but that was totally to be expected. What wasn't to be expected were holes in the linens, holes in the wall, and HD tvs that don't get HD channels. Upon checking in, the staff asked us which side of the hotel was wanted to be on. The Broadway facing side has a view but it noisy. Being from Chicago, we didn't think a thing about it. We could handle it. Turns out the noise wasn't from the street. It was from the constant door slamming around us, the luck of having the ice machine near us, and the housekeeping staff yelling back and forth to each other. That being said, the location was awesome and the staff (except for the yellers) was fantastic.

Great value for overnight stay. Great location! The address was deceiving, we ended up circling the block several times looking for the address. Entrance is actually on 77th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam across from the parking garages.
