First of all, as other travellers have mentioned, they are very strict about not letting you into your room on your day of arrival until 3:00 p.m. I slept on the hotel lobby sofa which I'm sure didn't please them. Even though the hotel is histortic, the room that we got put in was ultra-modern, maybe too much so. One night there was a party in the conference area below our room and the music actually was so loud and booming that it shook our room. When calling the front desk about it, they said that it was a party and the music would end at midnight -- no apologies. And since they were full, they couldn't move us -- right! The concierge on the most part were not friendly or helpful. Good location though.

Not only is this a beautiful hotel....inside and out but its location can't be beat. Located in walking distance to Central (Train) Station and close to the #2 Tram that takes you to the museums, this is the perfect spot to start!!! Loved every minute!

I have stayed at this hotel before and have always had a great experience. This trip I was celebrating a brithday with a friend and the hotel gave us a complimentary upgrade to a room with a balcony which was great. The room was large, clean and the hotel is in a great location, walking distance to anything you want to do in Amsterdam.

The location of the hotel is superb, right at the corner of the Dam Square! and just 5 minute walk to central station. Room was clean, large and comfortable. Staff was good. Highly recommended ;)

We got there at 8:00am even though check in time is not til 3:00pm we checked right into our room. Check in was timely, mentioned I was there for my birthday and she gave me a free breakfast for two. Now their breakfast is exspensive so that was worth a lot,and the breakfast was wonderful. We upgraded to the Amsterdam Wing with a balcony, now I don't know about the other rooms but we loved ours. We loved that we didn't have to go through the hotel lobby when we came and left. Also brought us a box of chocolates and bottle of water. We stayed there a week and loved it. Yes a couple of small things could have been better but we will stay there again.

Generally very good hotel with an excellent location good value for money. The only issue we had was that its promotional advertising clearly stated free WiFi however that is not the case as it cost some $15 for the day to use the WiFi which was disappointing as free WiFi was one of the main reasons we chose the hotel. Also on check out we found that the city taxes had to be paid so even though we understood we had fully prepaid we hadn't.

The location of the hotel is in the city centre, it is very close to the old town, the shopping centre and near by the river. The service in the hotel is perfect and I would like to stay again during my next visit.

Excellent location right in dam square, room was overlooking a busy street which meant a good bit of noise at night time. Minibar was full with no space to put any items of your own. Not really a 5 star hotel but rather a 4 star in a good location.

This hotel was brilliantly situated right in the middle of Dam Square and at the start of the main shopping road Damrak. The staff were helpful and friendly and breakfast in their Winter Garden restaurant was worth experiencing. All together a very good experience.
