The hotel and especially the staff made our stay over Christmas an absolute treat. Our first two noghts were very enjoyable and the staff Brian Anne Maria couldnt have been any more helpful and welcoming. Then when we returned on the 26th we were upgraded to one of the room s in the House. What can i say , out of this world! As an interior designer here on the South Coast of Spain I loved the decor and the way the traditional was mixed seamlessly with the modern ...whether the lighting ,the colour scheme or the rather wacky art in the front garden the whole thing worked a treat!!! I have raved about it since, so good luck to you all and a special thank you to the staff xxx

Hotel in great location but hotel certainly in need of all over upgrading and redecoration. Windows old and cracked and noise from traffic very loud.

Arrived early, no problem to leave luggage until check in time. No lift, so may be a problem if in upstairs room, but im sure if you let them know beforehand you could ask for ground floor room. I booked single room but had double bed. Room very small, but your not there to be in your bedroom.The bed was very hard, and my goodness, the pillows were awful. My room faced the main road into Edinburg.Very , very noisy with traffic so really had no sleep at all. Didnt eat in hotel, but menu looked ok, and prices fair, busy lounge used by both residents and locals.

The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the water was hot. What more does one need in a hotel room (unless you're going to stay in it 24 hours per day)? The Bar and Restaurant were traditional and provided a lovely introduction to Scots cuisine and brews. Try the Carrick Knowe Golf Club - the flatest, widest, duffer-friendliest course in all of Scotland.

Confortable stay with reasonable price. Very friendly staff and nice lounge bar/restaurant.
