The 14 year old hotel is in great need of a serious renovation. Huge lovely garden and small hotel so few facilities that even close early. Breakfast buffet not very good. Restaurant great but somewhat pricey. Nice pool but beach is difficult to use for swimming as there are many rocks. The rooms are not comfortable due to Zen style. The reception feels like an office.

the pricing in bar and restaurant was overpriced. the breakfast would be better if were a buffet. it would be great if there were mosquitoe nets or mosquito zappers plugged into the wall in the rooms.

Located in a quieter, cleaner part of Chaweng Beach (North), but only a couple of minutes walk to all the action. Would definitely stay there again if I go back to Samui.

We loved this hotel very very much! We had booked 3 nights in a deluxe room (the superior ones are by the road and may have a bit of noise so we played it safe) and were to spend the following 2 nights at the Kala and I had left our 2 last nights "opened". Well, right after the Kala, we checked ourselves back in the same room at the Muang Kulaypan! The hotel grounds are beautiful, the garden is enormous and gorgeous and there is a real feeling of peace and space. The pool is gorgeous and just the right size and the salas are amazing for relaxing. We never bothered lying on the loungers by the beach as the salas are a lot more comfortable. They have a bell and you can ring for your favorite drink! The staff is super friendly and breakfast is great, I really enjoyed the Siamese one which changed every day. I got to visit the Inao suites and if you can afford the extra they are really stylish! our room was very comfortable and we hope to come back to this little gem of a hotel.

A lovely hotel close enough to the action (5 minutes walk) but far enough to provide a peaceful beachside retreat. The staff were friendly and attentive, excellent breakfast and a fantastic swimming pool area. I would definately return!

When we first arrived we thought the hotel was nice but not amazing, after taking a stroll down chewang beach it became obvious that the hotel was better than we had first thought, the section of the beach was cleaned by hotel staff dailly, there was always a feeling a of space unlike all of the hotels which were along the strip,a lot less crowded. Pool was nice and clean. Was very happy with our choice. If you can get a low rate i would highly reccommend.

Excellent location at the quiet end of Chaweng beach but only a short walk along the beach to the main drag.

Nice hotel - beautiful garden and nice room. The gym is a waste of space. The problem with standard/superior room is the fact that it is noisy and next to the road. Additionally, there is the walking platform in front of the room (between the sea view and the room windows), so that you can't really open the window to enjoy the view. It is a bit voyeuristic ! A bit dissapointing in that respect for what would otherwise been a very very nice hotel

The vast grass lawn is the only type I've seen in Samui. Everywhere else is paved and concrete.

A beautiful place a high standard on everything and a compelling design. A good example of a design hotel. A pitty it's located in Chaweng beach which is not the most genuine or nice place to be on Samui. The hotel is a real oasis in this area.

An oasis of tranquillity and charme in busy chaweng beach. Only the romms on the main road are sometimes noisy.

It tries. But sorry putting (almost) all the rooms on the road boundary was a very bad design idea. And all the open grass-land is wasted as it is not very nice (or not finished?). Our room was dark and on the road so we heard all the car noises (paradise huh?) The breakfast spot is good and it is nice being away from the rest of the over-weight travelers down the beach. Looks good in pictures – but the experience is not there.

Beautifully done overall, but some of the details don''t follow through. EG. Bedrooms great to look at, but beds very hard, lights not working in rooms, toilet broke (though was mended very quickly). Breakfast setting amazing, food average. Definitely book deluxe room - standard rooms by the road are noisy.

The staff attitude is outstanding. The resort has some unique features: minimilist design, an elephant walking lazily around the hallways, delicious meals in outdoor salas directly on the beach. This is a laid back, very quiet place in which one can easily relax to the max.

The staff at Muang Kulaypan Hotel were great - always a smile on their faces and ready to help in any way they could. The rooms are stylish and comfortable with pleasant views of the garden and ocean. The pool was never too busy and nicely separated from the beach. The food was great and breakfast had to be my favourite meal - filling and healthy, relaxing on one of the the wooden podiums and watching the clear blue sea and sky. Always nice to have a resident baby elephant too!

I had stayed at the Muang Kulaypan five years ago and enjoyed it very much. Going back recently was very disappointing. We had booked to stay for four nights but only stayed one night and then moved to the much nicer hotel next door. The whole of the Muang Kulaypan looked neglected, particularly the garden which was very sad looking. The room we were given was quite dark (there is little natural light in the rooms) and was not at all the room we requested. The rooms are not at all practical as there is not much in the way of comfortable seating or surfaces to put things down. The staff were pleasant but not terribly helpful. The other hotel seemed like paradise compared to the Muang Kulaypan as we stayed in one of their new deluxe rooms which was fantastic!

This hotel grew on me. I was initially not so impressed as the rooms are quite stark. I am not really into the polished concrete look. However the breakfast is served in bamboo sala''s overlooking the ocean and you could lounge there all day (some people did). The pool area was very nice and the resort had a pet baby elephant. It is in a quiet location and was very relaxing. I would go back there again.

I love this hotel! Located on the very quiet northern stretch of Chaweng beach but only a short taxi ride from all the action. The hotel restaurant is one the best on the beach with very private facilites overlooking the ocean. The staff was incredibly helpful and polite. Rooms are very clean and I love the modern minimalist decor. I also like the fact that with only about 50 rooms you don''t feel like you are in a huge impersonal resort. They even have a baby elephant! Highly recommended hotel.

A nice designed hotel with nice garden, pool and beach, however the cleanliness in the room was not so good and also the staff in the restaurant was bad organised and very slow. The restaurant itself is very nice, sitting in small pavillions nearly on the beach. The hotel is a little bit too expensive, we think you could expect more when you pay 140$ a night.

Yes, I would like to say that I recommend to book this hotel. The hotel is very stylish and design oriented and cool. Please take into consideration that most of the hotel-rooms are only 10 meters away from the main road of Chaweng and it could be that it is pretty noisy in the night due to the traffic on the street.
