Agadir Rundown
Agadir is a long in the tooth Euro resort in the Souss-Massa-Draâ region of Morocco with a potent comeback tale. To rise from the rubble of a catastrophic earthquake that took the lives of 15,000 people in 1960 is one side of the story - and a significant one at that. Upon close inspection, there is little not to admire and like about Agadir. The Atlas mountains provide welcome and not-so-distant climatic cover (and stellar day trip material) for a wide, sandy Atlantic Ocean shoreline that serves as a patent platform for holiday leisure. Throw in a long, semi-arid summer and a dynamic, cosmopolitan populace and Agadir shapes up as a seductive one-stop shop. Beach and culture buffs will both feel at home here, with fine points of interest like the Agadir Medina, Suq al Had, Souss-Massa National Park and Jardin Ibn Zaidoun.
