not far from the "restaurant road" and quite reasonable price for a room in Kyoto

Excellent staff, super polite and accommodating of all requests, especially looking after our bags prior to check in. The room was comfortable and quiet catered for 3 adults for 3 days. We didn't eat at the hotel but it is very close to lots of restaurants within walking distance especially the Nishiki Food Markets. It is not much further to the main shopping area

very good experience in hotel montetey kyoto, good location, very convenient to get. lots of restaurant nearby. The room is clean although its size is not very large, it got everything you need. Friendly staff who can speak english, very helpful. Guest could purchase the one day trip bus or metro ticket just at the front desk of the hotel.

Hotel is conveniently within 4 minutes walk of a subway station and within 5 minutes walk of all the downtown shopping and commercial areas. Supermarket, cafes and restaurants (and even a coin laundry) all within 2-5 minutes walk as well. Three subway stops north of Kyoto JR Railway Station.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Monterey Kyoto. It was within walking distance to the subway station and the main street with all the shops & restaurants. The hotel was very modern and the rooms were decent. We got the smallest sized rooms, but they were sufficient for the price. I like how they are a "green" hotel and emphasized conservation. The only down-side was that they had no amenities such as a gym or a pool. I would recommend the hotel offer guests a special rate to use the gym across the street. Or they should consider offering guests free bike rentals to compensate for no gym. We did rent bikes from down the street and found them very useful & fun to get around town! Also, was a bit surprised that all the hotel staff did not speak good english. That was abit frustrating when asking where to go and other questions.
