Palenque Climate
Since Palenque has a tropical monsoon climate, you should be aware of the hurricane season, which run June through October. It is hot and humid year round, but December through March is the coolest time, with highs ranging from 21-23°C, and sees the least amount of rainfall. Peak temperatures exceed 27°C in April and May.
Getting There & Around
The closest airport is in Villahermosa, which is over two hours away driving from Palenque. However, more flights land at the Tuxtla Gutierrez Airport in San Cristobal de las Casas, which is five hours away. There are regular buses to Paleque from Mexico City, any major city in Chiapas and Flores in Guatemala.
Most visitors use the cheap combis, minibuses and shared taxis to get around Paleque. The area is fairly compact, so you can catch a ride every 10-15 minutes at various stops.
