General Information
Home to the commercial port of record in all of Mexico, the city of Mazatlan, believe it or not, was a German establishment back in 1531. On a quest to mine silver and gold for export back to Europe, the early immigrants built the foundations of the modern seaport Mazatlan has become today. The Gulf of California city, across from La Paz in Baja California Sur, is now home to more than 400,000 people. With a pristine coastline full of resort hotels, Mazatlan is a popular beach vacation destination. The city's boisterous and colorful Carnaval is one of the most notable Mardi Gras celebrations in the world and lures curious participants from all over North America and indeed, the world. As a resort destination in west Mexico, Mazatlan may not be able to compete with the inherent glitz and sex appeal of Los Cabos. Climate
A good climate of course, is a major factor in Mazatlan's popularity. Despite heavy rainfall from June to September, the weather is just about idyllic throughout the year. Temperatures range between 11°C and 27°C from December to April and 16°C and 31°C from May to November.
