Guadalajara is a paramount cultural hub, most evident in annual events like the Guadalajara International Film Festival, Guadalajara International Book Fair and Festival Cultural de Mayo. Though plans to build a spectacular Guggenheim museum by Mexican-born architect Enrique Norten were recently shelved, the mere concept alone sent a strong message that Guadalajara is a force in Latin America.
