Wismar Climate

Wismar has a cool European climate, with warm summers and cold winters. Precipitation is fairly constant year round, turning to snow in the cooler months. The best time to visit is between April and August when the temperatures are comfortable, although tourism tends to peak during these months.

Getting There & Around

Wismar has a small airport available for charter flights, but the nearest large airport is Lubeck Aiport near Hamburg, which has good highway access to Wismar. Trains or rental cars are the best way to travel to the city.

Public transport in Wismar is quite thin on the ground, so hiring a car is definitely recommended if you wish to travel throughout the area. The town centre is small enough to see on foot, or for a relaxing tour through the city try hiring a bicycle. Day tours are available from the harbour area to outlying locations.
