Metro Hotel On Pitt Sydney

Pleasant one night stay. Took a queen bed for myself so I slept comfortably. Room was clean so happy with that. Slightly old in terms of toilet and shower but it is not a new establishment so will still have to give it the thumbs up for maintenence. Shampoo, soap and body wash were pre-filled into a dispenser in your toilet (not small bottles). Unfortunately for the one night i was there, I did not have any shampoo. I am sure staff would have fixed that up for me if I requested but I was leaving so didn't bother. Excellent location, central to almost everything you need in the CBD. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Made checking in and out very easy to complete. I initially thought it would be noisy but it was actually very quiet to sleep in. My window had no view as it was directly facing another building but to be honest you aren't going to pick this hotel to stay in it all day. If you stay here you are picking it for the location and comfortable sleep. Most likely you will want to spend most of your days exploring the CBD. Overall I will come back here again...may be a little pricey for a single person but if you come with a partner or a second person this is definitely worth a stay.

The hotel is well situated in the city centre with accessibility to the nearby train stations and bus stops. Staff are friendly and the rooms clean. During our stay the elevator broke down and created a some hassle to take the staff elevator (which broke down for a while as well)

The bed was comfortable and there was a choice of pillows, the room wasn't large but had everything that was needed, and was clean. There wasn't any view but the location was more important to me than the view. It was close to Town Hall Station, the QVB which is such a beautiful building with lovely shops and cafes and easy walking distance to Circular Quay. Buses were nearby too if needed.

Normally it's a nice place to stay, however during this experience, I don't feel I got value for money. The bed was extremely lumpy and uncomfortable, the air conditioning was NOISY (every single hour throughout the night there would be a giant THUMP noise like it was resetting) and didn't end up getting any sleep for the 2 nights I stayed there. Location is pefect in the middle of everything however.

The hotel is well located in Pitt St. The room we had was so tiny the bed took up 80% of the space. The bathroom was large, but you can't sleep in there unfortunately. The room faced a bricked-up wall so the only view was of a pair of underpants that had got stuck to a brick. At the restaurant we never got the drinks swe ordered, and our meals were delivered to another table!

The worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The room very small and VERY VERY old. The bed was just as old. The menu in the restaurant was so old and filthy that I did not want to even touch it. By reading other reviews there must be some better rooms in the hotel but I certainly did not get one of them. Location in city is fine.

I found the Metro to be very good. The service was great, the location excellent, and it was a great price. I really liked being able to leave my luggage in storage at no cost while I renewed myself with Sydney CBD.

The good bits: staff members were friendly and there wasn't any hassle checking in or out. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Bathroom was good, but had shower only (budget room). Location is good, close to a subway station and within walking distance of many attractions. The not so good: Don't bring your cat because there isn't room to swing it. You can hear everything that happens in the hallway all the way to the elevators, and it went on all night. I'd rate this hotel as average.

If needing a quick and cheap hotel, this one fits the bill. Budget room is just that...tight quarters, box room, small closet right at door, no table or desk, bathroom was small but efficient and shower was quite big and enclosed with door. Close to train stop but a pain if you're wheeling heavy luggage. Close to long street of pedestrian zone of shopping on Pitt. 15minute walk to Circular Quay.

Was close to where our function was but is a very tired hotel in need of some updating. Room was clean and neat but mattress was too firm for me so not a good sleep. heating system very noisy was off in our room but could here it in other rooms. Water pressure was great. Good for when just need a bed and not spending much time in room as was well priced room overlooked dingy roof tops

The room was extremely small but clean and there was no traffic noise. The shower was good.Taxi's do not know where it is and constantly confused it with the other metro hotel at the other end of the street. Would not recommend breakfast from the restaurant attached. Staff were courteous and pleasant. Would suggest for overnight stay only.

We stayed at the Metro on Pitt because of its location and cost. We found the rooms were very small but clean. The best part of our stay was the staff, especially in the restaurant, the food was excellent and plentiful. All in all I have stayed in nicer more modern hotels, and I probably would not rush back here, but it was OK, and if you are on a budget as we were, pretty good value for money in the heart of the city, and the staff did try very hard to make our stay enjoyable.

The rooms heater did not work in the middle of winter and the best the front desk could offer was a little thing that was noisy and switched off ever few minutes. In the middle of winter this is pretty poor for a hotel in the middle of the Sydney CBS.

Like most hotels in Sydney, this is overpriced for what you get. Shop around and you will do far better. But beware there are worse as well. This was my second second stay and my last. The first stay was in what I imagine is sold as a deluxe room, overlooking Pitt street and was larger and a reasonable size and better appointed. This stay, the room was at the back of the hotel and was a tiny pokie little room, with an old tv, which took up half the surface area of the small tired and cheap 80's "built in desk" and wardrobe combo. Add the bed and a foldable metal luggage rack and the room was full. Definitely a one person room ! The bed was terrible, a basic cheap hotel trick of joining two singles and putting a board under what they call a mattress. Hard and uncomfortable. The aircon was the basic hotel type, air vented over either hot or chilled pipes in the ceiling and did a basic job of keeping the room warm. Though with the usual accompanying loud hum. The bathroom was adequate fresh and clean. Cheap plastic wall mounted squirt bottles provided the soaps, shampoos and hand cream. The adjoining room walls were simple plaster board so you can hear everything that is said and done in the neighbouring rooms. The hotel has spent money on painting the corridors and added lovely shiny new swipe locks for all the room doors, so the walk from the bog standard lift to your room looks promising. That is until you enter your room and see that once again that a good value mid priced hotel in Sydney is hard to find. True value for this room, no more than $80 - per night.
