Renovation has worked for the hotel as the room was great. No city view from the 2nd floor though.

I arrived early morning after a nightflight from Hong Kong but they had rooms available and gave me one straight away. This seldom happens in Australia even if they have rooms free. They mostly say:check-in time is 2 PM. You can leave your suitcase here. Rooms are clean and comfy, restaurant is ok for a snack or drinks and very freindly staff there and behind reception. I will come back....

Booked this room for a friend and she left an expensive diamond ring in the room when she checked out. A week later, she realised so I called the hotel. To my surprise, housekeeping found it and had it there awaiting my pick up. Cheers to an honest hard working team.

Fantastic staff support and an upgrade to a lovely room were really appreciated Any problem was solved speedily and with courtesy Only downside, heater didn't work and a long black hair was left on hand towel in bathroom.

I stayed all week - Sun to Fri during winter. The location was fantastic for where I needed to get to. Breakfast was terrific, and although I didn't have dinner there, the restaurant and bar area had a great feel to it. Everything was clean and modern. I would stay there again, as long as I wasn't in the same room as I had. The room was rather small compared to others I've stayed in, but since I was on my own it didn't matter so much. It was quiet in so much as I couldn't hear the rain or any traffic noise from outside. However, just like a previous reviewer, I was placed right near the elevators & stairs - and worse, the motel's busy admin office. That meant I heard all their comings & goings, doors & lifts from very early in the morning. Being on the first floor also meant I didn't get to experience any of the great views I'm sure the motel offers. Oh, and there was no hot water on my last morning!!!

From the moment we walked through the door we felt welcome at the hotel, despite the somewhat "clinical" look of the foyer and reception area - an annoying trend in hotels now (whatever happened to warm carpets, comfy chairs in which to curl up with a book and the smell of good coffee!). Anyway back to the review. Our room on the 4th floor was comfortable with a good, clean if not small bathroom. It appeared to have been recently refurbished. Food in the restaurant was very good, served hot by very pleasant waitin staff. We will certainly stay here again

Friendly staff, the studio style room was a little tight and laid out to make the most of the available space rather than convenience, but it was spoptlessly clean and very comfortable. Excellent value for money.

Room small but clean and quiet. No pool or gym which was a pity and parking was a night mare.

We stayed at the Mercure as we were doing a balloon flight and had to met at the Sofitel at 5.15am. the next morning As we arrived at the Mercure we got a call the balloon ride was cancelled, so we ended up taking in a few sights of the city, it is really close to everything and a tram stop was within a few minutes walk. We also dined at there restaurant for dinner and was pleased we did , the menu was basic and limited due to renovations, but the food was good ,along with the waiters who help turn the evening into a pleasant one. The room was a good size and clean , the facilities were good. We would go back again. Jeff & Teresa Antcliff

I had an enjoyable stay at the Mecure although having a room next to the service lift meant being woken at 5 am each morning. I would stay at the hotel again however would ask for a room away from the lifts. I ate room service a few nights I was there - the food was excellent!

The location and the restaurant at this hotel were what we enjoyed. The meal was fine and the view across to the gardens added to a pleasant stay in Melbourne. It was close to the theatre and we were able to leave early the next morning for the airport with no problems getting to our car.

The radio in my room was broken. The people at the front desk were very helpful. However, at breakfast there was no cutlery on the tables and they had not been set. The plates had not been cleared away from previous people. Also, there was no cutlery near the fruit for breakfast- try eating yoghurt with a fork! On 3 mornings I had to clear the dirty plates away from the table and find my own cutlery and serviette. Once again thank you though to the helpful people on the front desk, but you might want to give the breakfast people a shake up!!!!
