Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel
4 out of 5

The hotel is slap bang in the centre of the city, really easy to get to Trams and Buses- (outside front of hotel) and Train station was a 5 minute walk. Breakfast was fab! Buffet with everything you could think of including a menu with extras but at no extra cost. Rooms were warm, bed comfy, great views over Manchester. Clean and functional! Car park was essential to us and was right at the hotel not a ncp car park. Would definitely stay again.

this hotel is centered right on Piccadily Gardens, very close to Piccadily train station and surrounded by shops, transport and bars. The hotel itself is extremely good, the staff were very helpful and friendly, the breakfast was brilliant. I would definately come back to this hotel for another city break and would definately recommend it to others, well done Mercure.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The room was clean, the breakfast was excellent, the service was good and in particular responded helpfully to a specific request. The location in the centre of Manchester close to transport links and the information centre was ideal for us.

As central as you can get, ideal for a reasonably inexpensive city visit (approx £60prpn). Everything was clean, staff helpful and polite, breakfast was filling and pleasant. It did exactly what was expected and was exactly what I expected.

This hotel is a great option for city centre Manchester. My only advice is try not to be there with a car as the overnight car parking is £12 - though this is as city centre as you can get.

the location of the hotel was superb for the venue we were in manchester for, it was also ideal for the motorway link back to Birmingham.

I had booked a twin room, the room was small and the bathroom smaller. Lifts were a nightmare in the morning when going to check out.

room offered was scandalous - brown ring below waterline in toilet, sink with numerous cracks, tv not working. hotel said due to major refurb. not good enough, shouldn't have lapsed to that state - must have been millilons of bacteria in cracks. said i would have to pay for upgrade to move to refurb room! i said not willing to pay. moved to another unrefurb room with clean toilet, working tv but still numerous cracks in sink - disgusting. told them i was not satisfied but to no avail. they should have upgraded me with no charge - it was no fault of mine. only saving grace for them was the restaurant and security staff - absolutely first class attitudes.

The hotel was under refurbishment and we were not told this at the time of booking. There was dust everywhere and very noisy. Would not stay there again until the renovation has been completed.

Room very tatty in need of updating which to be fair I think that they are doing at the moment - shower flooded on to bathroom floor, no complimentary biscuits, only two TV channels worked correctly. Not good value for money, have stayed in better travel lodges in MCR citry centre for same money on room only basis

The bathroom needed refurbishment but we could see that lots of work was going on at the moment and I feel sure that the bathrooms will be replaced. It was a bit pricey in the hotel bar but the breakfast was excellent.

This is a hotel that was clearly once of a reasonable quality but has had little money spent on it since and is now starting to look very tired and tatty. Worn carpets, drab decor, poor lighting, problems with TV reception and lift operation. Convenient city centre location but poor value for money compared to other modern hotels of similar 2 star standard.

Hotel was clean and well located right in the centre of Manchester, however the decor is showing its age and the bedrooms although clean are in need of refurbishment. the Bar area is also in need of refurbishment and was not very well stocked. The Hotel is in the proces of a refurbishment which should resolve most of the problems. Our stay was comfortable and the staff were friendly.

Not told at point of booking that the hotel was being renovated. We were given room 1005 which was an absolute disgrace. Numerous white stains on the carpet. The carpet was frayed and stuck up at various places. The bath was badly stained especially around the plughole which was badly stained with some blue substance. The bed frame rested on the floor and months of dust and other peoples dirt had simply been pushed up against it as the room obviously hadn't been properly vacumned for months.Had no problem that the bar area had been moved to a temporary room pending rennovations HAD the hotel had the courtesy to inform us of the rennovations at the point of booking or checking BUT they didn't. WITHOUT ANY SHADOW OF A DOUBT THE DIRTIEST ROOM WE'VE EVER BEEN ALLOCATED. DON'T STAY THERE !!!!!!

It's an interesting hotel, with a faded 1960s luxury ambience, which now looks interestingly dated - like an early James Bond set - has great views over the city centre, nice, authentic 'period' feel - I'm sure it's not to everyones taste, but it's not boring or bland and is an authentic historic interior, which may disappear in the near future (hope not - it merits a preservation order!). Practical stuff - decent bed, reasonably spacious room, funky bar (like an early James Bond set!) and great location with 1960s roof top parking - I like it and keep returning.
