Had a lovely time in Edinburgh always do but on our arrival the receptionist Lola was very rude and she was the only person there on check in. Rooms and the overall hotel was very nice but our arrival changed our minds as it was a special treat for my friend. Had a fantastic night out!! On our departure we gave the receptionist our parking card and they scanned it for us, when we phoned about parking the said it would b £3.00 even as we were staying at a weekend, went to pay for it and it was £6.70 and way too far to walk back so wasnt pleased with that. The wedding is at the mercure barony castle that you have recently taken over and I am really reconsidering my stay there as wasn't happy with the staff on the hen night don't want that to be the same on the wedding! Have to stay though our view from room was amazing.

The room was splendid and the price very good. The only thing that annoyed us was the far too loud music in the breakfast room, which has fantastic views.

Fantastic located hotel right in the middle of Princes Street. Our hotel room looked right onto the Castle and the Scott's monument. Had a little panic at reception when we went to check in but after leaving our luggage in the luggage room and doing a bit of shopping our room was sorted. We stayed in a standard twin room which was fine, basic but with tv, coffee machine, iron etc...great view. Only thing I would complain about was there was no fan in the bathroom which ade the room fairly hot after we both had had showers. I would defiantly stay at this hotel again simply for the location! We were on a 2 night break pre-booked at this hotel. On arrival they told us they had over booked and moved us across the road to another hotel. But still expected us to move back the next day which obviously incurred disruption to our plans etc. Very poor service with no hint of recompense for our trouble.

Price of accommodation in Edinburgh is crazy during festival time. The deal we find here is great in terms of this period, only slightly higher than sleeping in youth hostel dorm beds! We watched tattoo in it's only a short walk back to hotel from Edinburgh Castle, which is a bonus at 23:00. Hotel location is only across the street from the train station and airport bus station, perfect!

The location was very convenient being literally 2 minutes away from the train station. Unfortunately the hotel is old and is in need of a facelift. The worst part however was the bed which has probably not been replaced in 20 years. Typical sub-standard European hotel which just serves to confirm my feelings of rather vacationing in Asia than in Europe where you need to spend a king’s ransom for descent night sleep.

Everything went ok and the information we got from Bookers was exactly was spot on. The room was spacious and very easy to relax with very decour. Breakfast was marvelous, the choice of everything. We spent hours staring across at the castle this filled us up for the rest of the day. We had lots of shops on both sides of the hotel. Staff were very friendly . We would definitely return to this hotel

When I initially arrived I was given a very small dingy room which looked out onto a brick wall. After requesting a move the staff were more than pleased and helpfull to assist. The location is excellente, would recommend it to anybody wanting to sightsee in the city as it is very central..

The road works in Princess Street was a distraction and caused some inconvinience when using my own transport. The car park under the Omni center was recommended by the hotel with a discount but was found to be still expensive and a fair walk away especially for older people. The cold water was cut off on our day of departure so could not use the shower or flush the toilet. These small problems did not affect our short break and otherwise enjoyable stay.

We drove our rented car from Gasglow to Edinburgh. Since private car is not allowed to stop in front of the hotel for traffic control reason and the hotel doesn't provide parking facility, we encountered a big probelm in finding the hotel and dropping our luggage. The hotel should well inform the customer of this as car driving is common in UK.

Everything about the hotel was great except for the bed. It was very very springy, and kept me awake with the noise most of the night. It was reasonably comfortable but even the slightest move made lots of noise.

Only one complaint about this hotel is that the room that we were staying was extremely warm despite the heater not being on and the window being open all day. This did make it very uncomfortable at night when trying to sleep. Apart from this criticism I have no complaints and for the price I would recommend.
