I have stayed here a few times. Most things work quite well. I was pleased that there were new and more enthusiatic staff on the desk since my last stay. Rooms are quite roomy. Meals at the adjoining pub are quite reasonable.

Everything about the hotel was perfect for my 2 night stay. As a single tourist it was a very friendly hotel to stay at and the location was perfect to walk to the shopping centre , also it was only a short taxi ride to the major attractions and the airport..

This hotel was all a top hotel should be but the toilet was set at such an angle in the bathroom as to be difficult for a 6 foot man to do what a man has to do comfortably. Apart from that the hotel met all expectations.

We stayed two nights and arrived about 6 pm. Staff very freindly, we din't use the dining facilities because of family comitments, from what I saw looked impressive. the room was spacious, king size bed, all facilities clean and ready to use, off street parking a delite and the night security very good we will definately stay here again

Heritage hotel close to war memorial and the city attractions. The garden was lovely and food was good at the hotel restaurant. The room was modernised, but the view was average, looking at the watertanks of the backyard. Good friendly staff.

Where to start?! STAFF. On arrival at peak time there was a queue. One rep on the desk. After a few minutes another wandered back having got a glass of water. They were off hand and showed no enthusisam or offered any apology. Later i went to the desk to order a cab and one rep was dealing with a guest and the other talking to house keeping (non urget) and kept me waiting till they finished (over a minute). While waiting in reception housekeeping pushed a trolley with towels and toilet rolls through. We all had to move luggage. No apology. Later I follwed him down a corridor and when he neded to open a door he blocked the corridor while he opened it - did not let me through and no apology ROOM - So smal. Stayed in bigger IBIS. Recenmtly upgraded with huge LCD tv but no pay tv channels. Bathroom shower not properly cleaned, soap dish falling off and not usable, door opened onto the toilet .... and a heap of other poorly finished and design faults.

Location is excellent for the Floriade and is close to the city centre. We had trouble with the adjusting the temperature in the room and the technician was prompt in service literally within minutes. Had a very good night sleep with comfortable bed and serene surrounding. Definitely stay here again.

Great location for walking around Canberra. Restaurant provided tasty food but tiny serves, so not good value. Clean charming hotel.

Lovely old hotel (Some new bits) the first in Canberra built in 1927. Restaurant , pub, bistro, bottle shop all on site. Walk to War memorial (that's what we came for - our UK friends rated better than the Imperial war museum in London) and civic centre. Lots of restaurants in civic. Rooms v nice . Will use again

Check in and room were of a good standard. Dinner in the restaurant was deplorable. Despite advising of our timeframe and being second and third to arrive we waited more than 45 min before having to tackle the staff to find our meals. We were told that as they had a wedding on the kichen was running behind. As a result we had to resort to McDonalds after the show!!! This is the second time we've had to endure the appalling incompetence of this hotels Food and Beverage calamity. IT is time that they employ a new food and bev manager and new head chef!!!! In all over 2 hours spent waiting for food in this establishment! Never again. The rooms may be good but in future I'll organise to eat elsewhere and not expect anyhing other than a bed.

The only bad experience with out getaway was the Canberra weather, cold!!!! This hotel is smack bang in the middle of all of the attractions and is about a 10 min walk to the CBD or a very cheap cab ride. Rooms are clean and well appointed and the staff were extremely friendly. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit the Nation's Capital, but, go when it is warmer!

As an European 'Travel Journalist' it was great to stay in a honest 3.5 to 4 star Hotel. The room was small and cosy, no lift to go upstairs. The pub is good the dining room average so is the breakfast. Parking is FREE, but had to pay for the morning newspaper. I would stay there again. Liked it better than the Rex, Hyatt, Rydges, Pavillion on . . . and at least a half dozen others who charge $200 and more to stay there. R. Strassberger.
