Mercure Bristol Brigstow Hotel
4 out of 5

Great location in town centre and on the canal at Welshback. Room was average sized but attractively decorated and very clean. Excellent value at under £70 a night, plus a sumptuous breakfast at £10. Car Park is £15, so that pushes costs up a little.

First class hotel. Shame that at check-in and check-out we had the trainee - everyone has to learn but perhaps better training before being let loose on the customers would have helped.

Nice hotel for a city break holiday. Staff friendly and helpful. Night time noise from traffic (and seagulls) very high unless balcony window closed. No ventilation in bedroom or bathroom made it feel very stuffy. NCP car park next to hotel cost £16 for parking over 6 hrs (up to 24 hrs). Hence 30 hours = £32, something you need to consider along with the room price. You need to be on floors 5 or 6 for river views due to the large trees outside the hotel.

An outstanding property. Off site parking is a expensive and could be improved cost wise if a guest rate could be arranged. Otherwise a 1st class facilit.

A very good entertainment package in the room. The room itself was a lovely place to stay for the weekend. Very good prices in the restaurant too.

Rooms booked on the river side. The trees partly obscured the view, so ask for higher rooms if this is important. Although very central, very convenient and on a cul-de-sac, traffic noise was always present (not the fault of the hotel!), but deliveries (early morning) and the tipping of empty bottles into a bin (after midnight sometimes) should be better controlled. Otherwise, the staff in the bar tended to be distracted by demands from the adjacent restaurant, so slow service. In addition, the check-out staff are not familiar with HotelClub as they tried to invoice the accomodation on departure, even though I had paid HotelClub and had tried to proffer the Club voucher as requested on the form. Overall, recommended.

A lovely hotel in Bristol. I had a great view over the Welsh Back waterway. The room was large and the bathroom very spacious. Everything comfortable. Internet rates per day quite high - eleven pounds and I wouldn't recommend eating in the hotel's restaurant. Still, a surprisingly good hotel with very good rates.

The Hotel was lovely but we did find the Standard room a little cramped for our liking. The bathroom however was very roomy which seemed a little strange!

fANTASTIC LOCATION. Really interesting style in rooms. Loved the "TV tile" in the bathroom. Breakfast v good but dining room could not accommodate everyone and many people had to queue for a table. Staff not particularly friendly but efficient.
