the wait for check in was long with one/two people working the 30' long desk. the bellhop and valet were great. the room was clean and nice but no extra amenities. the wait for food at the grill for dinner was a hour, with no bread.

It was acceptable for an evening, but wouldn't want to vacation here. Bed was clean, but hotel was tired and needed some attention. Furniture outdated and felt like a middle of the road hotel.

Greeting, As a repeat Melia guest, I was thoroughly disappointed by the Melia-Atlanta. I have stayed in some of the properties in Europe and been more than pleased. The Atlanta location was dated and not clean once you passed the lobby. Aside from being dated it was raggedy (elevators and ice machine not functioning, tape on the floor to cover snags in the carpet...just to mention a few of the number of problems). My room was dirty: stained comforter, food and trash on the floor where the room had not been vacuumed, stains on the walls, and it was dusty. On top of the nasty room - the staff was rude. I was a guest for New Years Eve. The staff was awful-not a good way to start the new year. Again as a repeat gust I was not pleased.

rooms need updating, linens are dingy, bathroom tile dirty, elevators did not work.....had to walk up 12 stories, valet gave parking preference to new year's party goers and I was forced to find my own space in downtown Atlanta after midnight....had to park at a hospital and walk several blocks back. Strongly urge you to consider other lodging options. This hotel really doesn't deserve a 1 star rating.

We stayed for New Years Eve, so we spent significantly more than usual. The door to a cabibet was broken off and not replaced or repaired. The over all state of the room was lightly worn. The bed was comfortable but the sheets had a tear in them and there was hair on the bed. There were repairs done to the bathroom but they were poorly patched. The staff was exceptionally polite and professional. I am a frequent travler so maybe my standards are high but I don't think so!!!! The cost is usually 80'ish. For the location and cost it could be considered affordable accomodations!!!

All restaurants and gift shop were closed the 7 days/nights we were there. The lobby bar was open throughout the day with a limited menu. They were out of bagels! No place serving breakfast should be out of bagels - the whole week! The bar was out of cabernet sauvignon - my husband and I had merlot instead - there's not a nice bar in the walking neighborhood, so we were captive customers. The room had a lamp on one side of the bed - just one side - I stayed up to read in a chair and let my husband have the reading side of the bed - there was only one chair. The soap contraption in the bath area was measley - no way could 2 people shower completely with a small plastic vial of "bath gel." Fortunately the 1" square bar of soap supplemented this. There were few hangers. Twice the towels were strange - once a towel had a black magic marker name written on it - Lindsay V. - another time a towel had a few large holes. We didn't complain, as there was too much wrong with this hotel - we just pretended we didn't pay so much for it. Normally we stay at the Georgian Terrace, which was full at the time. The Melia had very few guests and it's obvious no one would choose this hotel, having experienced it. The desk and valet staff were competent - lady at the bar one night when we stopped was asleep!!

Hotel was very nice, Full breakfast buffet, fantastic view from my 10th floor room, lots of room, in room iron/ironing board, TV was a CRT but worked ok. Hotel was within walking distance to Coca-Cola museum, Aquarium, CNN Center and many other places. The neighborhood was quiet, I was able to keep my door open out to the world.

From staff...to updating...to attention to detail...this hotel lacks it all. They claim to be remodeling in a few months. My suggestion is simple: wait.

Upon arrival, we were not greeted with the "common courtesies" one would normally "expect" from a drive in motel! I went in to the front desk, there was "no ONE" there to receive me! I began to look around for anyone. Finally, the night manager came in an in all fairness to him, although he seemed rushed, was pleasant. He apologized for not being present when we arrived, but explained they were "short of staff." (Red Flag) Next I was asked for my credit card and ID. I gave him my ID and my reservation number, but was told I would "have to give him my credit card" because that would be all he needed to "pull up my information." He then reassured me, that it would NOT be charged or anything. I told him all of my costs for the hotel stay was prepaid. He said nothing would be charged but what I required during my stay. We were given our keys and we took our bags up to the room. We were placed on the 21st Floor. We got up there and the air was STAGNANT and STALE. No air condition or very minor. The carpets were soiled, torn and taped. The room was putrid and dirty. We did NOT unpack. We backed out slowly and hurried back to the front desk and told the manager of our complete DISPLEASURE!! He immediately offered us what was "considered" and upgrade. NOT!!!! My husband and I agreed it was not as horrible as the first offering, however it was still not tolerable. I was AFRAID to even stay at this hotel after such an introduction. The manager himself stated, that he has spoken to the owners about waiting to allow time for renovations to be completed. He said we are NOT the first potential guests to complain about the hotel and he is certain we will not be the last. He was helpful and kind. He helped us to find more suitable arrangements for our visit to Atlanta. He was quite charming, apologetic and righteously embarrassed. He said he realized he was the face of the Melia and was quite understanding and knew our concerns were justified. He stated that he would be able to vouch for our disdain should he be asked. His name was Ehrie Foster, night manager. I secured his name in the event there was confusion about anything that I report herein. Brenda Orr
