Small hotel and rooms but great location. You don't go to New York to stay in your room so I would recommend to budget travellers who want to stay close to Times Square. You get what you pay for. Thanks for the stay.

We only had one night in New York and wanted to be as close as we could to Broadway, Times Square and the United Nations buildings. This hotel fitted the bill perfectly. The room was tiny and the staff non-existent a lot of the time, and the hotel entrance itself is easy to miss. But it's close to the Majestic Theatre and so many of the other venues and was easy to reach on foot from the railway station

The staff are extremely sweet and make the experience as easy and pleasant as possible. This boutique slot in the heart of the theater district is accessible to theaters, restaurants, retail stores and transportation. The rooms are small and yet never feel cramped or uncomfortable and the bathrooms are lovely. Noise is not a real factor and once people are in their rooms you generally feel the privacy that surrounds you.

The size of the room was about 11x14 INCLUDING THE BATHROOM and the elevator barely worked. The building itself was also cheap and not well kept either. I can't spend too much time writing about this place but DO NOT stay at this hotel... shame to New York.

I chose this hotel mainly because of the price. I came to visit friends in the city but wanted a hotel so that I could come and go as I please and so that I could have a place to crash. That's what the Mayfair is. It is not luxurious, aesthetically pleasing, or roomy, but it gets the job done. The lone elevator is remarkably small. My room was basically big enough for the bed, and that's it. It didn't feel dirty but didn't feel terribly clean either. The carpet was older. The window faced a wall, so there was no view (unless you consider a brick wall to be a view). The heat and a/c worked well and the wall-mounted flat screen TV was nice. My bed had a long black hair between the sheets and what bothered me is that I know that the throw pillows have to be placed on the floor while the bed is being made-- those same pillows are lying against the pillows you sleep on. Kinda gross. The bathroom was tiny and when I ran the water in the sink, water leaked out from the floor and made a puddle. The shower was SMALL. If you are overweight, this hotel is not for you! I am a tall and in-shape male, and I had a problem in the shower, especially when washing my legs. The water pressure and temperature were good. There was an extra movable mirror on the wall that made shaving easy. The staff was pretty friendly, although one of the younger guys at the front desk acted like he didn't know what he was doing when he checked me in. The location was excellent- right by Broadway (the hotel is directly beside the Book of Mormon theater), HK, Time's Square, etc. I would stay here again simply for the convenience and the price. It's small and has NO frills but it gets the job done. ALSO- there is a $12 gas surcharge that you have to pay upon checkout. I'm guessing it's for the heat in the winter.

Third time to stay at this hotel. Good location, friendly staff. My only complaint was temperature regulation. Heat is controlled by main boiler system not individual room so it is either on (sweltering) or off (freezing).

I stayed for just two nights and didn't spend very much time at the hotel, but of the time I did spend there, I was very impressed! Aesthetically, the hotel is beautiful and old-fashioned, a change of pace from the chic, contemporary hotels. But it still had a nice flat-screen tv in the room with cable (though I only used it to watch the news in the morning). It was VERY quiet, which I appreciated. And the location was superb! Right in the middle of the theater district, half a black from Times Square. It was uber-convenient. Unlike most hotels I've stayed in, it was lacking a few things. There was no microwave or complimentary tea and coffee. The view out of my window was a brick wall (but as I said, I spent very little time there, so no issue with that...I never even opened the shades, except once out of curiosity). There was also no lotion in the bathroom, which I found the most odd, but overall, I didn't miss those things. It had heat and air-conditioning, and those were plenty. There was also a programmable safe in the closet, which was good for my peace of mind. This is easily one of the best hotels that I've stayed in, and I will definitely use it for future trips.

I would not advise anyone to stay at this motel. My wife and I were very unhappy upun arrival. The place is dark and very out dated. The elavator could barely fit both of us and our two bags. Our room was also very dark and was dirty. There were water spots on the ceiling and the bathroom was not clean. I changed hotels and moved to Chelsea where the price was cheaper and the hotel was ten times better, Please take this advise and do not be fooled as I was. Thank you.

We enjoyed our stay for one night. Staff very helpful and pleasant. Room was very noisy during the evening but after showtime it was fine. Apparently 211 is next to the theatre and the fans blow into that room. Not good. Great location. I would book again. J. Murtha

Loved the location of the hotel. People working the desk were very helpful. Twice our card keys didn't work but they fixed that problem very quickly. Clean room and very hot water. Also very quiet.

I needed a hotel fast and didn't want to pay an arm and a leg. I found this hotel with good reviews and excellent location. You are literally right next to the show "The book of Mormons". It is an old small hotel with boutique charm. The room was small, but just what I needed and very clean. The front staff was friendly and made my request of staying an extra night very easy. It was a comfortable stay and at a tremendous value compared to all the other hotels in the area. I would recommend this place to my friends.

My husband and I stayed the night of the tree lighting and the location was phenomenal and the price was amazing. The room was fantastically quaint with just what you need in NYC. The staff could not have been nicer nor more accommodating. We were very happy with everything! They even hold your bags (for a very minimal fee) once you check out so you don't have to drag them around NYC until your transportation is ready. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Great price - Great location - Great Staff!!

A small room but clean and convenient to subways, Central Park, etc. Nice friendly staff. Easy access to walk "anywhere". Close but not too close to Times Square if you want to stay away from there. Only strange thing was we booked and paid 2-3 weeks in advance through Orb but the Mayfair took our debit card at arrival and "charged" (pending transaction for several days) us another $98.00. It hasn't gone away yet but assume that it will.
