Mahebourgis the capital of the Grand Port District on the island of Mauritius, an island located off the southeastern coast of Africa. The Mauritius climate is generally warm throughout the year and has two seasons: winter and summer. Summer in Mahebourg runs from May through October and is typically hot and humid, whilst winter runs from November through May. Although rain is possible on the island, it does not typically interfere with holiday plans. Many visitors find that the island of Mauritius is best visited during the months of July through September. This is due to the winter season really kicking off, and the temperatures starting to cool down.

On the island of Mauritius, there is an extensive network of bus routes. Travelling by bus to Mahebourg is inexpensive and is also a scenic way to see the town and surrounding area.
By air, Mahebourg is served by Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Airport. Located on the southwestern part of Mauritius in Plaine Magnien, it has bus and shuttle service available to travellers coming to and from Mahebourg.
