Marriott's Desert Springs Villas II Guest Reviews
Want an inexpensive vacation to relax with your friends and the kids...this is it! The two bedroom villa is the size of a condo and is very comfortable. The main pool is also nice, it has a kiddy pool that is pretty big and perfect for the kids...only 1 foot deep.

In planning a first weekend getaway with my new girlfriend I thought of Palm Springs and came across the Desert Springs Villas [...]. I thought the rate was too good to be true and booked it with some doubt in the back of my mind. My first trepidation was the late check in time (4:00 pm) and early check out (10:00 am) which means that you are really just paying for a place to sleep. When we arrived around noon on Saturday and went to the front desk to confirm our reservation we were pleased to be handed a packet of resort information and a card with a number that we could use to charge to our room account. The girl at the counter took my mobile number and said I would be called when our suite was ready. We first went to the main pool at the villas but found it to be too overrun with families with children to be relaxing. Hungry, we took a short shuttle bus ride to the main hotel and found the quite and relaxing Lakeview restaurant. We experienced a wonderful lunch with ample servings at prices much lower than I expected from such a resort setting. We had a nice view of the hotel's unique indoor / outdoor lake and the resort's main pool which appeared to be the better place to hang out as adults. As we finished our lunch, the call came that our suite was ready. We took the shuttle back (forgot to mention that the shuttles were filled with young college kids but I found them to be harmless and rather humorous with their water bottles filled with vodka !) and got our room keys and made the short drive to our villa. The suite was well appointed and comfortable with a patio right next to a fairway of the golf course. Still full from our lunch, we decided that we would take advantage of the full kitchen and cook our own late dinner. After a quick trip to a nearby supermarket, I was surprised to find just how fully equipped the kitchen was. Everything a chef could ever need was there ! As well, there was everything needed to serve my culinary creations, including wine glasses and a wine opener. We enjoyed our late supper and wines well into the night before retiring to our comfortable bedroom. Alas, the only problem was having to pack up and leave our villa way too early the next morning. We did manage to fill our Sunday with trips to the nearby Tram, the Desert Outlets (the best true bargains on luxury brands - just be prepared to spend an hour trying to park !) and lunch at the Morongo Casino. I look forward to coming back with more time to spend at this bargain of an oasis.
