Excellent position in District 1 which is within walking distance of all the Historical places of interest. Walk to River Danube took just over 1 hour and was worth every minute. The island is a lovely place to rest and take a snack. There is a very good shop just before you reach the bridge where you can find a host of reasonable priced items to eat. Best to take water with you as it gets hot in July. Umbrellas are a must as when it rains it does pour down. However its so warm that you dry off quickly. Boesendorfer have a superb collection of Grand Pianos on display at Musikverein, near to Karlschurche. Its the same building as the wonderful Golden Hall where the standard of music is really excellent. Across at Karlschurche the Salzburg Choir and Old Instruments are Conducted superbly in Mozart's Requiem. Imperial Hall was a disappointment-especially the snippets of music. Watch out for 'touts'. Tickets, we were told, are not always genuine. Find the Old Coffee House where the atmosphere and service is superb. Forget your weight!!! Its called The Central Cafe Having visited the Imperial Palace and Schonbrunne I wanted to visit the Church where so many important people were married, including Napoleon! It was also the venue for two of my favourite composers to give their 'first performances'. Finally to experience a wedding service in the oldest church with the oldest organ was amazingly beautiful. Please do not expect your children to absorb and enjoy ALL that you do. Its unfair on them. A little done well is great. Buy the book ALL VIENNA with 222 Photographs isbn 978 84 378 2739 1 I promise you that the 12.9 euros it cost their was worth each and every penny.# You will arrive knowing a lot about a lot and will have an even better experience than me. I stayed 10 days and missed the OPERA as it stops for July and August. Lots of other music though. Food/music/hotel/people....all superb..ENJOY Margaret

truly enjoyed the stay and the service in this hotel. It has all the conveniences of a Marriott with a very distinct local Viennese flavor.. You can literally walk everywhere from this location. Vienna has magical attractions and concerts and amazing museums.. The breakfast buffet and the restaurant also has very distinct Vienese flavors..Even the locals come to the restaurant to have an elegant night out and to be seen.. l I also took 2 tours to Salzburg and Budapest that had direct pickups from the hotel. Recommended to get a flavor of these wonderful cities.
