The Soviet hammer and sikle which are on the outside of the building are a good clue. If you are lucky enough to get an updated room, it's not bad- but NOT 4 star- rooms we stayed in were more like 2 star. No A/C, so we had to open windows due to heat and the yelling of drunks kept me up the first night. Not recommended, but there are few options in Ostrava.
