The seaside enclave of Marsascala offers access to the island of Malta’s best attractions, from the ancient capital city of Valletta to the extraordinary Hal Saflieni Hypogeum necropolis. Birkirkara, the most populous hub on the island state with 22,000 people, is a mere 13 km from the resorts that dot the Marsascala coast. At only 246 km2, the main island of Malta is facile to traverse and explore, which partly explains the seductive quality of a handsome hamlet like Marsascala. The small town has several Knights of Malta landmarks and worthwhile points of interest beyond the coast, from Saint Thomas Tower to Tal-Buttar Tower, Zonqor Battery to Mamo Tower.
