The package-holiday enclave of Bugibba offers access to the island of Malta’s best attractions, from the anicent capital city of Valletta to the extraordinary Hal Saflieni Hypogeum necropolis. Birkirkara, the most populous town in Malta with 22,000 people, is a mere 9 km from the beach resorts that dot the Bugibba coast. At only 246 km², the island is easily navigable, which partly explains the allure of a quasi-purpose-built tourist complex like Bugibba. The small resort area is largely devoid of specific points of interest beyond the beach, casino and souvenir shops but in truth, Bugibba’s allure is the coast.
