Tioman Island Climate

As the largest in a group of 64, this volcanic island is always warm and sunny; any time of the year is a great time to visit. Since Malaysia is close to the equator, the temperatures typically fall between 90°F (32°C) during the day and 78°F (26°C) in the evening. Monsoon season goes from November through February, and this time is best avoided by travellers.

When To Go

Many hotels on Tioman Island close throughout the monsoon season, which runs from October to February. For a canny, intrepid minority, however, the quiet off-season provides a stellar opportunity to enjoy a tropical island relatively free of tourists.

Like Singapore and much of coastal Peninsular Malaysia, temperatures in Tioman hold between 73°F (23°C) to 88°F (31°C) for the year.

Getting There & Around

Served by ferries from the mainland of Malaysia, this island is simple to reach. The Tioman Island Airport provides propeller plane service, although most visitors arrive by ferry.

Once on the island, transportation is found with bikes, cars and boats. There are concrete and dirt roads to traverse on foot or by car to reach villages. Also, boat charters will carry tourists from Tioman to other islands in the area.
