Seremban Rundown
The capital of Negeri Sembilan is in the middle of the action in Malaysia. Home to barely half a million people, Seremban is 18.6 mi (30 km) from the seaside resort of Port Dickson, 50 mi (80 km) from UNESCO World Heritage Malacca City and 40 mi (65 km) south of the vibrant metropolis that is Kuala Lumpur. While not practical as a standalone tourist destination, the state capital is a useful platform to a hodgepodge of worthwhile stops on the west side of Peninsular Malaysia. ... Read more »
Seremban, much like the rest of the country, came of age in the late 19th century. The discovery of tin ore and rampant development of mines by the colonial authority led to a fast and vast urban buildup and the assimilation of diverse cultures. The story of the de facto KL satellite, then, mirrors the story of Malaysia over the last century and a half.
The city parlays desirable proximity to Kuala Lumpur International Airport into a brisk business and leisure tourist trade and serves as a popular stop for domestic and international passengers en route to other destinations. Seremban also hosts holiday-makers destined for the Strait of Malacca and the Klang Valley at large. Points of interest to consider include the Negeri Sembilan State Museum, Cultural Handicraft Complex, Minangkabau House, Seremban Animal Park and Era Square.
