The inherent appeal of Pulau Redang is straightforward and unambiguous: beach resorts and more beach resorts. The island is also a notable sea turtle conservation area and indeed, has a plethora of decent dive sites for those who want to observe the endemic marine life. Redang is the linchpin of a vast archipelago national park that includes many other islands off the Terengganu coast. Though Redang has no points of interest beyond sun, sand and surf, Kuala Terengganu is close by. The lively city of 400,000 people has numerous attractions of note, from Kota Lama Duyung to Tengku Tengah Zaharah Mosque, Istana Maziah to Chinatown food hawkers.

Much like the rest of conservative Malaysia, there are few nightlife venues on Redang Island. Redang Island’s night-time scene is relegated to the hotel resorts, which have bars and restaurants serving alcohol. Some of the popular spots around the islands include the Berjaya Redang Beach Coffee House Terrace, which is a live music spot where visitors hang around after dinner to drink, chat, and socialize. The Redang Reef Resort has karaoke in its open-air restaurant bar every night. The Redang Beach Resort and Redang Pelangi Resort host fun beach parties at night, which attract lively international crowds looking to dance.
