Magnolia Court Boutique Hotel Melbourne
4 out of 5

A late booking for New Years Eve, our small, basic but comfortable double room with ensuite was all we needed. A small repair to the curtains in the room and it would have been close to perfect. Breakfast in the sunny dining room was a pleasant way to start the new year and the staff were friendly and helpful. Great building in a quiet neighbourhood yet within reasonable walking distance to lovely Melbourne gardens and the CBD.

Hotel is accessible to city and inner locations while being quiet and easy to locate. Breakfast was varied and a nice surprise at there being a good choice of items available. It would be nice to have more complimentary items in the hotel ie. milk and a decent soap. Room was adequate but some urgent maintenance is required (broken lamps and flashing powerpoints).

Magnolia Is in a great location to walk into the CBD, or to interesting places like Fitzroy. Rooms are small, but clean and comfy, so if you only want to sleep there, it is a good choice

Hotel is a very short walk from MCG, perfect if going to the Cricket or Footy. Rooms were clean and tidy. Beds were comfy. Breakfast was delicious, lots to choose from. Only let down is the parking at the rear of the building, if someone blocks you in you can't get out. Other than that, fantastic!! Would stay there again.

The location was very good for me. The room left me alittle disappointed. The lights in the room need attention, one had its cover missing, the other did not work, the bed side table was very hard to switch on. Whilst the room had a micro-wave, toaster, there was no cutlery when i went use it. Also the uht milk in the fridge was off when i made a cup of tea. I purchased some myself at the 7/11 down the road. The t.v. had bad pixelation it seemed everytime a electrical device was used.

A great place to stay to go to a game at the MCG. Rooms are a bit small and have definitley seen better days. It felt a bit Fawlty Towers-ish, especially at breakfast.

We had a two single bed room. The beds were big and the room had two windows, adequate bathroom, microwave, toaster, fridge, jug and coffee and tea. It was quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was included and very good. It was walking distance to MCG and City. We would stay there again. Car parking was quite squeezy but staff moved cars for us.

East Melbourne attracts 2 types of travellers: Those heading to the MCG, or those with friends/family in one of the 20+ hospitals within 2kms. Neither traveller is going to be incredibly particular about their lodgings, and for those The Magnolia Court is probably fine. For a business traveller, it leaves a little to be desired. Rooms are oddly-shaped and dark, with no real windows. The B&B chic will be attractive to some, but probably gives off that old relatives' house vibe (and maybe just a hint of odour) to most.

We had no idea what to expect when we booked this hotel and were absolutely delighted when we arrived. The "old world charm" commences when you walk through the lavender garden and continues inside with the furnishings and decor. We loved it. The staff were friendly, our room on the 2nd floor was lovely and in the morning the dining room was bright, sunny and welcoming. The buffet breakfast was included in the very reasonable tariff and you could choose to dine inside or on the small terrace. Another bonus was the free off street parking. Would definitely stay here again.

We have stayed at this Hotel a few times before but this time we thought it had become very tired. The garden was not maintained and the surrounds needed a good sweeping. The location is excellent, breakfast was adequate and the parking good.

I couldn't find any faults at all with this hotel. I had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. It is clean, quiet, pleasant service and a cooked breakfast at no extra cost just topped it off. It is situated in a beautiful part of Melbourne, close to magnificent gardens, sporting and entertainment venues and city shops.
