Madeira Regency Palace Hotel Funchal Guest Reviews
My wife and I stayed for one week, and our first surprise was that the safe in the room did not work. When I phoned, I found that there was a daily charge to use the safe! I asked to speak to the manager, thinking that a hotel that claimed to be five star was not interested in the safety of the guests' belongings. The manager was not on duty. I asked for the duty manager. The Housekeeper was the duty manager, but she was not on duty! There was no manager! Basic room facilities, with bathrobes that will only fit the slimmest. Breakfast is fine, but be sure to finish before 9.30 a.m. A pianist comes on duty who cannot play, from 9.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m.! Wrong notes, inability to keep rythem and excessive volume will give anyone who likes music a headache! Internet wasn't working in the hotel!! Very disappointing overall. We will not return. This is no 5-star hotel

Lovely stylish Hotel, great service, facilities - fabulous pools both indoor and out, lovely rooms with balconies overlooking the pool and coast. Regular bus service provided FOC into Funchal centre which is not walking distance, so use it.

Wee meet an explendid service overall in the Hotel - we were very satisfied for the stay betwen 14.04-21.04-2008.

Attention, this is a luxury Hotel. They take care of everything and this might be annoying. For example, your luggage is carried to your room so you have to tip de guy who brought it, at breakfast they show you the table you can use and at the pool there are pool-guys who bring umbrella’s, pillows and towels…

A superb hotel in every way. The only downside was the beds, which were a notch on the hard side. For golfers: You should let the hotel do your reservation, as they offer a discount on the published prices. Transportation will also be provided free of charge.
