When we stayed at the hotel, major work was being done. In spite of this it was a nice hotel with a good location. The staff was friendly and very helpful and overall it was a good stay.

the room smelt of paint which wasn't ideal. Otherwise the hotel has a great bar and is perfectly located for the various night life attractions Manchester has to offer.

i stayed at this hotel for 2 nights,on arrival on friday afternoon i was told that my room was not ready,i waited about half an hour and was then given my room key,i had a double room on the second floor which was very comfortable the only draw back was it was at the front of the hotel facing the main road, this is a very busy road both day and night,so didn't get much sleep, but other than that i could not fault the place, there was building work going on during my stay but that never bothered me.It is located in the middle of the city centre so i was within walking distance of everywhere i wanted to go.I got a very good 2 night deal at this hotel and if i were offered the deal again i would stay here again no problem the deal i was offered came through this site [website].Overall a pleasant 2 night stay.

Good hotel facilities for the price paid. It is walking distance to the station and close to shopping, theatre etc. Staff were helpful and friendly. Room was a bit "faded glory" but large and the bathroom was spacious and clean.

On arrival had to wait for our room, as the one we were meant to be getting there was something wrong. One of the beds in the room had what looked an insect but turned out to be rawlplug and some plaster. Hotel bedrooms are bit dated.

On a recent trip to Manchester for a concert, my friend and I stayed at the Princess On Portland for 2 nights. Previously a Victorian cotton warehouse it is a very beautiful building with great character, an old style hotel which suits my taste. Room was very clean & what I would describe as cosy. The staff where very friendly with one employee asking if our trip from Scotland was nice & if we were looking forward to the concert. The location is great with plenty of food outlets, shops, & pubs in close proximity. It is approx. 15 mins walking time from the MEN & the Arndale Centre. Value for money was superb with us booking a Sunday night & recieving the Monday night free! All in all the trip was brilliant & the hotel could not have been better. Clean, friendly, great value & a beautiful old building, all for a very affordable price. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Manchester, whether it be for 2 days or 2 weeks. Oh! And the concert was amazing too!
