We have stayed at this hotel once before and had a great time, hence we came back. While there we had an incident that I must say was dealt with quickly, professionally and with little fuss. The staff are very friendly here and two other big pluses are location for shopping and the railway station and the period features. We will be back

Service is polite and kind. Locations couldn't be better - all the shopping, restaurants and new street station right on the doorstep. Pillows were nice and soft but the cover was bit dissapointing..Bathroom was outdated and toilet worked bit poor. Everything was clean and tidy. Breakfast was a bit too formal for a business travel - buffet would be more practical. But on the other side of the street you find an other hotel with less stars but with nice enough breakfast buffet. Sadly this nice hotel has the same problem as so many other older hotels..it's outdated and the glory days are behind when it comes to interiors. Still I would recommend and I'm quite sure I'm going to stay here in the future. Hyvä hotelli, mahtava sijainti. Kylppäri on vanhanaikainen ja iän jälki näkyy. Yleiset tilat paremmalla tasolla. Mukavat tyynyt.

Lovely hotel if you get the right room. We sadly were put at the back of the hotel. The room was beautiful, very clean and welcoming. but at the back of the hotel is the bus station and the hotel does not have double glazing. I stayed on a Friday night and thanks to all of the noise outside, I got around 2 hours of sleep. Lovely hotel, friendly staff but if you get a room at the rear of the hotel, don't expect any sleep

Lovely old-fashioned hotel with great facilities. Rooms are very comfortable and the staff are very friendly. The price (£57 for a week night) was very reasonable for the standard of the room. I didn't try the breakfast though, so I can't comment on the catering.

A very old building, and therefore architecture too complex. To get to our room from the floor level, we had to take an elevator, walk into the reception area, use another elevator, walk across a long corridor, go up the stairs for half a floor (no accessible option), and then walk a little more till the room. Our room was very specious, more than the most according to the fire escape plan. The bathroom was with the fixed shower - maybe customary in England but very uncomfortable for me. The location is great if you arrive by train - right near the train station, with easy foot access to two malls and the central city square - but if you plan to use a car, pick another place - the parking is far and expensive, and driving in and out is a huge pain (of course not being used to left-hand drive doesn't help).

Spent a very comfortable night - possibly my best night's sleep in a hotel in a very long time. Good service with polite and friendly staff. Would definitely return if the opportunity arises.

Had a fantastic welcome from a trainee. Location couldn't be more convenient when travelling by train from the NEC. It made a day at the NEC into a varied weekend in Birmingham. Highly recommend this hotel.

The former Midland Hotel, once Birmingham's grandest, is slightly past it's best these days, but still a good 4 star hotel. The location is superb, right in the city centre, within walking distance of everything. Staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was well equipped and the bed was comfortable.
