Lotus Pang Suan Kaew Hotel Chiang Mai
4 out of 5

I love the old design which brought me back to 1980's. Let me thought of my parents brought me to travel when I was young. Everythings are fine. You pay 2-star price to live in 4-star hotel.

The hotel room is ok, and staff are friendly, breakfast is very basic and the carpet of the hall ways are so dirty, old and smelly, with stains and plasters on the rugs, its very confusing getting in and out from the hotel. The location is too far from the center, the only good thing is that attached to a shopping mall, so you can have a short cut in and out from the hotelpassing tru the mall, but once mall is closed, you need to walk and cross the ugly parking and no light at all.Big hotellike this should have a free wifi and an in room safe.

The hotel rated as a four star hotel, however, the facilities in a room does not meet the standard. For example, there are no kettle, tea, coffee, hair dryer and etc.

The room I got was not what I had asked for-- I had asked for a room facing Doi Suthep in the main building. Instead, I was put in a room that smelled unclean, allowed me to see nothing but roof out of the windows. Breakfast was of low quality. You should not offer free breakfast if the quality if belw par. Transportation from the airport to the hotel was free of charge, but transportation to the airport (to return home) should also be free of charge as well.

We got a big corner room and paid extra bed for another $14. After checked in, we dropped bag and then small cockroach started to come out. I moved my stuff in the room for 4 times to be away from cockroach but turned out that it's every where with wood finishing. Then i left the bag on the carpet floor instead. I didn't change the room because it's same thing with my friend's room. No security guard at night time around building (after 2am). The club at basement opened until 4am but looked cheap.

orginally booked to a standard room- dark and dingy upgraded to dulux for a small extra cost. Also std rooms in a seperate wing, gereraly tired and a considerable distance from the pool. Dulux room ok. Lighting lower than usual however quite restful really. Pool large and somewhat elderly, however appeared clean, we used it daily without health issues.

We have stayed in this hotel each year that we vacation in Chiangmai and have been really happy with it but, since this trip we felt that the rooms needs to be remodel and update. Half of the time, the switch for all the lights/tv are broken, the shower curtains are dirty, the a/c was leaking water each time we turn it on, the carpet are dirty and it took forever for the maids to clean and get our room made up. Lastly, we were a little disappointed in the breakfast food, before it had alot of varieties but now its just so plain and the service people were really slow in cleaning up the tables and setting it up for the next guest. Other than that we love the fact that its close and convenience to all the shopping.

I booked this hotel for three consecutive nights, but I only stayed for one night and checked out the next day. The hotel is too old and I just cannot stand it anymore. People working at the reception counter barely can speak English. Bad experience for me and my folks.

Lighting was relatively dim in the room and around the corridor. View from the hotel room was nothing spectacular, despite staying at the deluxe room. The porter went all out to help us "upgrade" from 2nd floor to 12th floor, when we complained about the low-rise room view upon arriving at the room.

The Hotel was great and huge with shoping center, fast food stall just beside it. Was given a big room very tidy and clean. The swimpool is big and great for swimmer. The location is much further to the nite bazaar and is quiet during nite time. If you like to avoid the crowd this is the place to stay.

The window in our room looks out to a wall which is half a foot away. When we asked for a change of room, we were told that all rooms are constructed this way (i.e. with a wall outside the window)! The interior of the hotel is indeed very tired looking. The hotel gives us the impression that they are only interested in dealing with tour operators who will bring them loads of tourists. They are not interested in keeping individual customers like us happy. We will definitely avoid this hotel altogether.
