Lone Pine Hotel Penang Guest Reviews
Simple, chic and delightful! The newly restored boutique hotel has a nice blend of contemporary look and old charm. Facing a lovely stretch of beach, it also has a cosy pool, perfect, for a laid-back holiday. Good spread of local delights being offered and staffs are friendly. Love the elegant looking casuarina trees too! All in all, a nice beach getaway!

The Lone Pine Hotel in Penang, Malaysia, is one of our favourite hotels, mainly because it has not really different to the lovely place we discovered when we first visited Penang in 1974. It's like travelling back in time. In more than 30 years, little has changed: the low, two-storey buildings with their wide verandahs, plantation shutters and large, airy rooms and the sweeping lawns dotted with deck chairs and shaded by stately pines. There's just more activity on the beach these days. The Lone Pine is in sharp contrast to the modern hotel towers that have sprung up nearby with their box-like rooms. It offers a real alternative to the boring uniformity of the modern, albeit at a room rate well above its competition.

We had a very relaxing time at Lone Pine. It has a very local and personalised feel about it as opposed to the large ''Shangri-la type'' hotels there which are far too impersonal and usually the same in any country! I would definitely go back to the Lone Pine for its friendliness and charm and I plan to tell everyone about it. We particularly liked the little farm they had and the chance to go horse riding. Every one was very very friendly.

An oasis of distinguished calm amidst the bustle of Batu Feringghi beach resorts. Would recommend it to anybody who appreciates tranquillity and personal attention. The same atmosphere is to be found in the restaurant although the quality of the food is below that standard.
