The elegant Locanda Conterie Hotel is the former home of the glass producing family who run the hotel on the island of Murano. The hotel is a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of central Venice, the well maintained gardens and cool interior are places to relax after a long day at sights such as the Piazza San Marco, the Rialto Bridge and the Grand Canal.

Location
The island of Murano is just a short water taxi ride from Venice's main island and easily accessible for the airport and railway station. Many visitors come to Murano for the Glass Blowing Museum but the streets and the pretty church of Santa Maria e San Donato are also popular with guests.

Rooms
Rooms at the Locanda Conterie are furnished in Venetian style with original Murano glass chandeliers and comfortable furnishings. All rooms feature air conditioning, hairdryer, fridge, telephone, and en suite facilities.

< p>Restaurant
Breakfast is a continental style buffet breakfast with meats, cheeses, cereals, fruit, and pastries which can be taken in the restaurant, or outside on the terrace when the weather is fine.

General
The Locanda Conterie is a pleasant family run hotel away from the busy streets of the main island but still with a true Venetian atmosphere. The sights of Murano such as the Palazzo Giustinian are within walking distance, and the Basilica San Giovanni e Paulo on the main island is also a short boat ride away.

+ We enjoyed our stay here, Murano is a lovely and not too touristy place, and if you appreciate tranquillity it's perfect. Well decorated, clean rooms, comfortable beds, really good value. All of the vaporetto stops of Murano are easily reachable from the hotel. - Breakfast is a bit poor, and our room smelled of mould - I think it's a problem of plenty of venetian buildings.

We arrived during early afternoon – time specified on our reservation and the office was closed. We rang the bell and a man came to check us in. He did not greet us or smile. He then took us up three flights of stairs to our room – but did not assist my wife (we are in our sixties) with her suitcase. He was the so unfriendly and we didn’t feel welcomed at all. The food was all packaged. There was canned fruit salad, packaged breakfast rolls and packaged toast. Every other place we stayed at during our Italian vacation had fresh fruit and rolls and much more variety. On our second day there it rained and the only completely covered eating area was big enough for about 5 people and was full so we had to sit in an area that the rain came into. Although Murano is a nice area it is not near most attractions – thankfully the public boat system brings you within walking distance from the Hotel. Then you need to get directions to where the hotel is located. It was the only place we stayed at during our 2 week vacation that we would not recommend.

We had a room where our private bathroom was not en-suite - it was next door to our bedroom which was not very convenient but otherwise the hotel was good. We were there first week in June and not many restaurants were open on Murano in the evenings but those that were - were good. Murano is very quiet after all of the day trippers have gone back to Venice, just perfect for us.Transport to and from Venice was frequent - no problems. Would stay there again - but in a different room perhaps.

It was a sweet little villa in a great location on Murano. It was really easy to get in and out of Venice, and to the Airport. On our arrival we were greeted by a lovely English speaking lady who showed us our room and gave us a really good map. The Hotel facilities were great, sunny breakfast room and outdoor terrace. Two very important things: we had a good hot shower and really comfortable bed. The room had excellent air conditioning, a TV, safe and mini bar which was reasonably priced. We highly recommend this hotel.

A lovely old family villa located in the streets of Murano. It is a couple of minutes walk to vaporetto stop, supermarket and the shops. A beautiful place to stay to escape the crushing crowds in Venice and yet it is only 10 minutes by vaporetto to Venice. There is a direct Murano (DM) vaperetto which runs between Murano and Ferrovia (train) station. Murano is also directly linked to the airport by vaporetto. Most importantly, Murano is filled with beautiful, amazing glass.

It'd be awesome if they tell you the boats are outrageously priced before you book the room, but other than that it was decent.

Nice hotel, and Murano Island is nice, but everything on the island closes at 9pm, so there isnt much to do in the evening. Breakfast was very ordinary.

very nice place on the murano-island. For those who are looking for a peaceful staying, because in the evening, Murano gets empty. the hotel is very clean, with a nice terrace, the rooms are charming, with comfortable bathroom.

Sstaff was outstanding, very friendly and helpful. ACTV system is confusing on when?where the "all night" boats run to and from. Need good maps how to get from the water bus stops to hotel. If there for several days, buy the multi-day waterbus (ACTV) pass. Our room was not in the main building, it was in annex and did not have the Wireless access so had to go to the main building; ads did not say there was a 5 euro per hour charge for internet time either. Did not like the only window in room opening onto the main street like a door! Not even a screen so leaving it open would allow someone to slip in in the middle of the night. No instructions on how to turn on A/C. Bathroom was cramped. Murano was easily covered in a day trip - the streets roll up at 1800. Most restaurants close at 8 pm. If you want peace and quiet and solitude, all the time, this was the place. If I had it to do over, I would do one night on Murano, and the rest on the main island.

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for three nights. It was much cheaper than anything we could find in Venice and was very clean and modern looking. The breakfast was self service and a little basic but it was situated on the roof of the hotel so we were able to eat in the sun.Any of the staff we met were extremely friendly and all could speak English. As the hotel is on Murano you do have to get a bus to Venice. The buses are frequent i.e. you can get one that seems to take you all over Venice, the 41/42 or you can get the DM which just stops at 4-5 keys places such as the train station or the tranchetto car park.I would recommend the hotel and would stay there again

Generally a pleasant stay, though I would advise not too stay too long in Murano as there is not to much to do besides look in glass shops. There were a few problems with the room - the shower head holder was broken - making it impossible to aim the spray anywhere but the ceiling, however they obliged me by moving me to another room the next day. The air conditioner was also a bit of a problem when it began to make sudden loud vibrations throughout the night -strange but not really the hotel's fault.

Typical of any Italian Hotel, the Locanda is a friendly, clean and comfortable hotel to stay in. Not five star but then again it doesn't claim to be! Enjoyed stay on Murano, only five minute walk to vaperetto stop and typically twentyfive minutes by boat to anywhere in Venice. Would recommend this hotel!!

We had ground floor rooms which were well furnished and very comfortable. Guests on upper floors must be prepared to climb stairs with their luggage. Breakfast is prepacked croissants and coffee from a machine. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff helpful. Murano made an interesting base from which to visit Venice and the islands.
