Locanda Conterie Hotel Venice
3 StarsCalle Conterie 21 Murano Venice 30141
Location
The island of Murano is just a short water taxi ride from Venice's main island and easily accessible for the airport and railway station. Many visitors come to Murano for the Glass Blowing Museum but the streets and the pretty church of Santa Maria e San Donato are also popular with guests.
Rooms
Rooms at the Locanda Conterie are furnished in Venetian style with original Murano glass chandeliers and comfortable furnishings. All rooms feature air conditioning, hairdryer, fridge, telephone, and en suite facilities.
Breakfast is a continental style buffet breakfast with meats, cheeses, cereals, fruit, and pastries which can be taken in the restaurant, or outside on the terrace when the weather is fine.
General
The Locanda Conterie is a pleasant family run hotel away from the busy streets of the main island but still with a true Venetian atmosphere. The sights of Murano such as the Palazzo Giustinian are within walking distance, and the Basilica San Giovanni e Paulo on the main island is also a short boat ride away.

+ We enjoyed our stay here, Murano is a lovely and not too touristy place, and if you appreciate tranquillity it's perfect. Well decorated, clean rooms, comfortable beds, really good value. All of the vaporetto stops of Murano are easily reachable from the hotel. - Breakfast is a bit poor, and our room smelled of mould - I think it's a problem of plenty of venetian buildings.

We arrived during early afternoon – time specified on our reservation and the office was closed. We rang the bell and a man came to check us in. He did not greet us or smile. He then took us up three flights of stairs to our room – but did not assist my wife (we are in our sixties) with her suitcase. He was the so unfriendly and we didn’t feel welcomed at all. The food was all packaged. There was canned fruit salad, packaged breakfast rolls and packaged toast. Every other place we stayed at during our Italian vacation had fresh fruit and rolls and much more variety. On our second day there it rained and the only completely covered eating area was big enough for about 5 people and was full so we had to sit in an area that the rain came into. Although Murano is a nice area it is not near most attractions – thankfully the public boat system brings you within walking distance from the Hotel. Then you need to get directions to where the hotel is located. It was the only place we stayed at during our 2 week vacation that we would not recommend.

We had a room where our private bathroom was not en-suite - it was next door to our bedroom which was not very convenient but otherwise the hotel was good. We were there first week in June and not many restaurants were open on Murano in the evenings but those that were - were good. Murano is very quiet after all of the day trippers have gone back to Venice, just perfect for us.Transport to and from Venice was frequent - no problems. Would stay there again - but in a different room perhaps.

It was a sweet little villa in a great location on Murano. It was really easy to get in and out of Venice, and to the Airport. On our arrival we were greeted by a lovely English speaking lady who showed us our room and gave us a really good map. The Hotel facilities were great, sunny breakfast room and outdoor terrace. Two very important things: we had a good hot shower and really comfortable bed. The room had excellent air conditioning, a TV, safe and mini bar which was reasonably priced. We highly recommend this hotel.
