I have frequently visited this hotel, but on this last visit, the front office clerk seemed to need (lots of) additional training! Generally, it is a good, modern hotel, although Breakfast is expensive.

All was fine with le Royal Meridien - lovely room and good location on the Alter Alster. The only problem (apart from being charged 10 Euros for a coffee with water) was that the lobby bar was opened for smoking in the evening which I might have appreciated a few years ago but not now. The World has moved on from very smoky hotel bars and this was an unwelcome surprise!

this is a modern uninspiring hotel that is quite comfortable (great showers, Okay bathtubes) however i would not stay there again as there is nothing memorable to return to -- a cafe is just a cafe, a breakfast is just a breakfast, etc. if this is your last option, go ahead without hesitation, it's all right. but if you have more time on your hands to look up something more individual and special -- do look it up.

Very nice hotel with lots of design furniture and decor. Views from the roof top restaurant at the lake are very nice, but you have to consider a 10 minute walk to the city centre.
