A short stroll from West Lake, which is naturally very important if you're in Hangzhou to visit the lake. Many options for food nearby if you're not into standard hotel fare.

Excellent hotel next to West Lake. Nice rooms, we got upgrade to the Executive Floor without even asking. Good restaurant (Food Street) with excellent food. You can rent bicycles from hotel or across the street by lakeside. Within walking dsiatnce from main shopping streets.

I chose this hotel because of the good rate, the location and because when in China I prefer to stay in Chinese hotels rather than international chains. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and spacious. I asked for a non-smoking room, but the room was still quite smelly, although they did try to air it by opening the windows wide. I also paid extra for a Lakeview room, but could barely see the lake, as the trees in front of the hotel were obstructing the view. Apart from these minor complaints, I really enjoyed staying in this hotel. It is only 5 minutes walk from the lake.

Pathetic service. Restaurants are mainly booked for private parties without keeping convenience of hotel guests in mind. Staff is not caring either. They give a damn if you complain. I strongly recommend not to stay at this hotel unless you don't bother about service and looking for good location only.
