Location
The Lai Thai Guest House Chiang Mai is conveniently located on the eastern side of Thapae Gate, in the city centre. The guesthouse is close to the famous Night Bazaar, and is only 10 minutes drive from the airport and train station.

Cheap hotel but very scary at night. Suitable for backpacking.

Lai Thai is in a great location, within easy walking distance of the Old Town,Thapae Gate and the famous Night Market. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a nice restaurant on-site and a small pool to chill out in at the end of the day. On the down side, my room was old and small, with noisy floors and a bit on the grubby side. The windows are slats which do not shut out noise very well. Having said that, for the price you can't go wrong with Lai Thai - it makes a great base for getting out and about in the Chiang Mai region. Highly recommended!
