La Quinta Inn Ventura

Clean, comfortable, and inexpensive. A great deal if you are looking for an inexpensive, but decent place to spend the night and have pets.

The room smelled pretty musty when we opened the door. Eventually it aired out, but it is an older property. About what one would expect in a 2-3 star hotel; thin towels and uncomfortable beds. The surprisingly good part was the breakfast which was well above average. Cereals, waffles, bagels...more than one would expect! Very nice!

An older, but well maintained motel. Comfortable location on I-101. Decently clean, but the carpets could be better plus quite a lot dogs pup around the motel. Breakfast OK, but very crowded and hard to find place where to sit. Pool is surrounded by buildings resulting in a very strong echo. From the 3rd floor you have no problem of hearing conversation of people in Jacuzzi. Although there suppose to be smoke designated area, still when your window is opened will fill the room with cigarettes smoke.

Not being familiar with the area was a distinct disadvantage in booking this room. The pictures of the property, like shady dating sites, were quite different than the "real deal". Upon arriving, I was less than impressed with the cracked and broken asphalt, and cigarette-strewn parking area. The front office staff was accommodating and cordial---especially since I had to use their hospitality to switch my room--three times. The first room (by the way, room numbering is not sequential--instead be prepared to find room 311 not sandwiched in between 310 and 312--but rather next to 323-don't ask me why) had a door that looked like it had been jammed closed---the door was "fudgy" with fingerprints and appeared to have been kicked in one too many times. I could not get the cardkey to open the door after numerous attempts---so I trudged back to the lobby. My second room appeared to be fine-on the outside. However, inside I was met with an unmade bed, and Jack-in-the-Box remnants on the nightstand. So, I called the front desk, related the issue, they apologized and said the room was marked as cleaned, and asked me to come down to get another room as housekeeping was gone for the day. At this point, it is 8:45 in the evening, the hotel is filled with construction workers, railroad workers, good blue collar guys---but with dirty work boots no doubt...which explains why my third room had a large dark oil ring at the door entry that snuffed out the original green carpet, the "recliner" had a broken arm and was also "fudgy" on the armrest, the nightstand had sticky residue left from the last inhabitant, gum wrappers left on the carpet between the chair and window unit, pubic hair in the shower, and no coffee or shampoo for use. I gave up, threw the coverlet on the floor, checked the bed for bugs (found none) and wore my flip-flops as I walked around my room. I decided to use a towel in the shower the next morning to stand on---just in case. Don't bother booking if you have average to high cleanliness standards---If it hadn't been so late, and the Holiday Inn Express had not been full, I would have sprinted to their lobby. Honestly, this place should consider by-the-hour status, as a flop house-as there is no other apt way to describe my horrific experience.

We came in late in the afternoon and we were very tired. The front desk staff was cordial and helpful. They printed out a list of restaurants in the area that delivered food because we were too tired to go out. The rooms were spacious and clean and the flat panel TV was a welcome touch.

Surprisingly quiet hotel for being right next to the freeway. Nice, clean, and plenty of room, including a large table. The only thing I would add would be a refrigerator, then it would be ideal for the price.
