if you are there sat morning, there is a farmers market right out front door. Internet does not work at all so don't bother. Good price but rooms are minimal but comfortable and clean. Nice staff.

Could not get any better location with this hotel. Literally the middle of Little Italy..walking distance to Harbor, ferry ride, and other attraction in downtown. Room was small, but my boyfriend and I didn't mind it at all! It is not your typical hotel, but it was perfect for us. We are a young couple with no kids and we didn't plan on spending much time in the room anyway. Very clean room too! Couldn't have asked for a better hotel. We are already looking at dates when we can book another weekend! Highly recommend La Pensione!

Cozy place to stay. However, hotel room is small and there's no coffeemaker in case you want to sip coffee right away. I would not suggest hotel for longer stay but for a week-end getaway, it is a sure place to go. Close to all amenities especially the Gaslamp District.

The Le Pensione Hotel is located on Date Street in Little Italy. I had seen this hotel on previous trips and always thought it would be fun to stay there...no need for a car since so many activities are in walking distance. Check in was at 3pm but our room was not quite ready, no problem we were heading to lunch anyway. Parking, many reviews have mentioned this and it is true. There are only 24 parking spaces (according to the check in person) and those spaces were already taken. We parked at a nearby parking lot (2 minute walk). The price for parking will depend on how long you are there. Our room was small (as expected) but very, very functional and clean. The queen bed was very comfortable. One step out the front door is Cafe Italia for an outstanding cup of coffee and then you have a choice of many, very good restaurants. It is also an easy walk to the bay and over to visit the Star of India sailing ship or the Midway battle ship. Don't expect luxury at this hotel but a nice place for the price and location, I think it is perfect. I have stayed in much smaller rooms in Europe and paid twice as much. AND don't miss the the Farmer's Market (Mercato) on Saturday morning. It is located right on Date Street and starts at 9am. Enjoy!

The hotel was right in the middle of Little Italy which was perfect for us. We could walk anywhere we wanted to go. The room was small, but perfect for 2 people for a week-end. We would definitely go back again.
