Location
Kauai Sands is only a short walk to many of the popular water sports available, including kayaking, snorkelling or scuba diving. A short drive can take you to the spectacular Opaekaa Falls or the Allerton Gardens. With the Lihue airport less than 10 km away, it won't take long to start unwinding.

An older hotel on the decline - a great place to sleep for a reasonable price. Everybody staying here was very nice and the rooms are clean. The staff is friendly.

Great location and really quiet at night. Short walks to great gift shopping, restaurants and grocery stores. The hotel's decor is 70's dated but I prefer the older places because I like the character. Friendly staff, good security, and lovely landscaping. The Sands is also run be Hawaiians. I avoid the corporate monsters. I will stay there again when I'm back on Kaua'i.

Perfect location and great value. We were right on the beach and the pool had two pools for the kids.

The room itself was large and clean, but wallpaper and mouldings were dingy. It's conveniently located right next to the Coconut Marketplace, a block from Monico's (an excellent casual mexican restaurant), and has good beach frontage. All rooms have refrigerators and rather noisy wall a/c's, but no coffee makers except in the studios with .kitchenettes. Coffee is a must for us so we bought a microwave for $10 at a thrift store to heat water for our french press (and it was handy for heating up restaurant leftovers too). All in all, good value for the price.
