Jianguo Hotel Xi'an Guest Reviews
A busy business hotel, though I stayed on a private trip with my wife. The hotel is and looks like a good quality hotel and we found the staff very attentive and keen to assist. The level of English spoken is varied but there is usually someone at the desk with a good enough grasp of the language. Whilst we were their the pool was closed for maintenance which was disappointing and they repopened it without letting guests know. The 'American' breakfast was comprehensive, if a little pricey for Xi'an. Not strictly american but a good attempt for an area which does little in the way of western food. The location is a couple of miles from the main tourist part of Xi'an but the best thing about the area is that Taxi's are very inexpensive. But dont get them from the ones that hang around the end of the approach to the hotel, they will try to fleece foreigners. Make sure your taxi uses its meter and you can get most places locally for less than a couple of GB pounds.

Everything in the hotel was good. There were many customers who are checking in or checking out all day time. I think this shows the quality and location of the hotel.

Non smoking room not available despite prior reservation. Swimming pool heater was said to be broken, thus the 22 degree C temperature which means it was not usable, not unless you are a polar bear or penguin.

This was my second stay at the Jianguo in the last 5 months, and that is sufficient commentary in and of itself. The hotel is quiet, with a fine breakfast buffet, and clean and modern rooms. It has direct bus connection to the airport every 2 hours until 6 PM, and is a few minutes away from the city center by taxi. There is no safe in the room, but the safety deposit boxes are large and secure. The staff at the concierge desk all speak good English, and are extremely helpful when it comes to negotiating the price of daytrips to the terracotta warriors attractions, arranging air tickets, etc.

In short, for the modest fee that the hotel charges, the traveller receives extremely good value. The one exception would be for a business traveller who would need to make use of the business center. The internet connection is both dated and slow.

Very nice, clean and tidy hotel. Bathroom and showers were spotless. A little bit out-of-the-way though as its not inside the old Xi''an city. Thus be prepared for a bit of a commute (maybe 30mins in peak hour traffic). Its pretty close to Banpo Neolithic village.
