Jianguo Hotel Shanghai Guest Reviews
Reliable 4+ star hotel, Chinese oriented but foreigners very welcome. Excellent location at the long under (or over) ground walk to the last Exit (#2) of the Xujiahui subway station. Close to Xujiahui shopping centre with its malls and department stores. Western side of the city so relatively close to Hongqiao (domestic) airport. Rooms are very comfortable, clean, and well-serviced. Internet access (wired) is free.

A good hotel. Situated in the commercial centre, at som distance from the tourist attraction. Except for this, an excellent choice.

I reviewed this hotel previously. This time the "broadband" internet access in the room was NOT free. It now costs 100rmb a day, and also, the service seemed to be extremely slow, with many "time-outs", which was very frustrating. They need to fix this (or cease charging!!!). All that said, I would be happy to return.

Free broadband in room! Clean rooms and fast check-out. They did screw-up on my non-smoking room requirement, but gave me one that was good enough without smell.

We specially booked two nights here during our five-day holidays. I booked an executive room as I worried about the quality of standard rooms here. The view of the Bund was great from our room. The room was renovated sometime back but there was a lack of elegance, probably due to the use of cheap materials such as curtains. The pressure of the shower was not strong enough for us to take a shower. Carpets were stained. Staff attitude was not so good as other hotels in China with 4 stars. I''ll try other hotels when I come back to Shanghai.
