Yamanashi Events
Enjoy all the colours of the trees in bloom at the Peach Blossom Festival in April.
The Shingen Ko Masturi in April sees hundreds upon hundreds of locals dressing up as an ancient army and marching through the streets. Bet you don’t get that at home!
The streets are lined with torches for August’s Fuji Yoshida Fire Festival. Enjoy local Japanese drumming while tucking into the famous udon noodles.
Who can say no to free wine at the annual Grape Festival in October?
In November, Yamanashi celebrates Prefectural Citizen’s Day.
When To Go
Being inland and protected by mountains, Yamanashi enjoys a relatively mild climate.
Mount Fuji helps shield Yamanashi and ensures the region is relatively dry.
The warmest time of year is from June to September when temperatures reach around 30ºC (86ºF).
Getting Around
As you are likely to be covering large distances, the easiest way to get around is by hiring a car.
If driving isn’t for you, fast, efficient trains will get you to most places.
A number of buses operate and are good for travelling smaller distances.
