A popular attraction for all ages in Niigata is Myoko Sunshine Land. This leisure park has activities like rollercoasters and an excitingly tall Ferris wheel. Another great place to explore, especially with children, is the Fossa Magna Museum. Minerals, fossils and rocks are thematically showcased in this fascinating museum. When To Go
Without a doubt, Niigata is best visited when the seasons are stable. The spring months of March through May and the fall months of September through November are great seasons to visit Niigata. In spring, the cherry trees are in bloom, while the fall brings pleasant temperatures. Visiting during the months of June to August and December to February can yield harsh temperatures and weather.

Getting There
By train, Niigata is the main terminal for the Joetsu Shinkansen line to Tokyo. The train can make the trip quickly and safely within two hours. The Shinkansen is another fast way to travel to Niigata from Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe.
The Niigata Airport has the capacity to handle international flights from Russia, China, South Korea and Guam. There are also frequent domestic flights to Niigata from Osaka, Fukuoka and Sapporo, as well as other cities.
By bus, the Niigata Transit goes to the Ikebukuro Station in Tokyo, which is about five hours away. There are other long distance trips to Nagoya, Sendai and other cities. Buses do operate outside the train station at the Bandai Exit, and they run to the airport about every 30 minutes.
