Roman Forum

One of the architectural and social triumphs of ancient Rome was the Forum, the prime meeting place for discourse, politics, celebration, and the worship of Roman gods, as well as the town centre with a bustling marketplace. The Roman Forum evolved from a simple market to house the most important symbols of government – the Senate, Assembly, and Speakers Platform. Alongside these buildings were many shrines and temples to important deities. Excavation and preservation of priceless area ruins continue today. Roman Forum Top 3

  • Join a private tour of the Roman Forum, where a guide with an in-depth and passionate knowledge of the historic area will enhance your walk amongst the artefacts and symbols of ancient Rome.
  • Visit the Capitoline Museums and when the tour ends enjoy spectacular views over Rome and the best panoramic view of the Roman Forum.
  • Drive down the Via dei Fori Imperial road starting in the centre of Rome, to the end where the Forum Museum is, and browse the sculpture and architectural exhibits and view a video on the Forum.

Getting There

As one of the premier destinations in the world, the city of Rome is of course well serviced by international, inter-continental, and local air routes, buses, and rail. From Rome public transport options to the Roman Forum are pretty good with nearby metro rail and bus stops. One of the best ways to get around is to buy a Roma Pass, which provides three-day unlimited public transport access, with discounts to museums and other attractions. Driving is not a good idea as traffic congestion in the city can be taxing, and parking, difficult.
