The region is home to notable tourist charm of course, most famously in swish valley hamlets like Cortina d'Amprezzo. The jetset winter resort has a hot après-ski scene and hosts world cup ski events on a regular basis. Auronzo di Cadore is a comune less than two hours drive north of Venice with two impressive natural attractions in the Tre Cime di Lavaredo mountain group and Lake Misurina. On the shores of Lake Alleghe and in the shadow of Monte Civetta, the diminutive town of Alleghe is another Dolomites gem.
