Tiberiasis a tourist town in the Holy Land that many visitors enjoy simply for its beauty and atmosphere. It is a stop on most Holy Land tours,as it is close to the legendary Sea of Galilee.The area is famous for its hot mineral baths, which you can experience at Hamat Gader Park, along with exhibits of crocodiles, alligators and local ruins. If you are in need of a quiet meditation spot after a day of sightseeing and soaking, you can enjoy the serenity of the desert along with a panoramic view of Tiberiasfrom Mount Arbel. If you want some peace and quiet closer to sea level, Kursi National Park is a lovely natural reserve home to the ruins of an ancient Byzantine monastery. The excavation site features some fascinating old mosaics. The Hamat Tiberias National Park is home to an old synagogue featuring mosaic flooring. Other intriguing religious sites in Tiberiasinclude the Jewish Court, the medieval St. Peter’s Church and Rambam's Tomb. Local museums include The Citadel and The Antiquities Museum.
When To Go
The weather inTiberias is either hot or hotter, with scorching temperatures in the summer. The best time to go to this city is after November, when the temperatures are under 20°C (68°F). Like any desert area, the temperature drops as much as 12-15°C (54-59°F) after the sun goes down, so even in the oppressive summer months, the evenings are tolerable. It also means you will not need to pack an umbrella unless you need a parasol to shield your skin from the sun. There is no rain in the summer months, and the winter averages about 7 mm (0.3 in) of rain per month. The main climate concerns in Tiberiasare sand storms, which are not common but can happen in the spring, and minor but frequent earthquakes.

Getting There
Air travellers will fly into the one of the major airports in Israel, such as in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Nazareth or Haifa. From there, you take a bus or drive a rental car to Tiberias. It takes a little over two hours to get to Tiberias from Jerusalem or Tel Aviv using Route 90, which runs along the Jordan Valley. You can also use Routes 2 and 4 to reach Tiberiasfrom Tel Aviv. These are nice roads with clear English signs. Alternatively, you can book transportation with one of the many tour companies offering organized trips to this city. These are usually packaged, as Holy Land tours will take you to Tiberiusby way of Jerusalem, Nazareth or the Jordan Valley and on to the Sea of Galilee in large, comfortable buses.
