Isis Hotel Luxor
3 out of 5

The cleanliness of the room was pretty bad and the interior old. The bathroom was clean and seemed newer than the interior of the room. Nice lobby, bar and pool-area right at the bank of the Nile. Too bad though that two cruise ships blocked most of the view of the Nile.

Nice well situated hotel alongside the Nile on the east bank. Our room while more than adequte was on the road side and it could be noisy. Get a riverside room if you can. Easy stroll into town.

The hotel is a little far away from center. You need to walk a lot or be ready to fight with taxi or caleche providers.

Starting on a positive note, the hotel management was very helpful and upgraded our room to a Nile View when I realised that they only had twin beds in the standard rooms. I am surprised why a hotel would have a majority of twin rooms. To make a double bed they join two twins together. Many guests were unhappy with this. Rooms are generally clean but hallway carpets are filthy. Standard rooms look out onto the street and at a Mosque. Quite noisy at 5am. Nile rooms are much quieter and very pleasant. Buffet breakfast was good.

The View of the Nile from the terrace is the best feature of this Hotel. The best rooms face the river - if you have a street facing room be prepared for the Muezzin from the mosque across the road.

This is a typical tourist hotel, frequented by large groups of tourists that usually stay for a couple of days. It offers good value for money. If your primary purpose is not tourism you may still enjoy this hotel, which has two swimming pools (one of them heated). The main restaurant is well managed despite the fact that it has to cater to the needs of a large number of guests. For lunch and dinner the hotel also features an Italian and a Chinese restaurant. The former is particularly recommended. It's worth paying extra for a room overlooking the Nile and the valley beyond. If you require Internet service, don't buy their expensive deal but go to the Internet café some 100 meters down the street on the same side of the street where it costs only 5 LE for half an hour. Will use them again.

Checking out very slow even when nobody in the queue. Little regard for customer care practices. The Reception Manager hasn't got a smile in his body. Understanding pricing is a nightmare, and there are mixed messages between shifts.

There are definately 2 types of accommodation to this hotel. We booked this hotel and were placed into the older part of the hotel, the rooms facing the main road. The service was awful when we arrived, we were told nothing about the hotel and their services. The older part of the hotel does have some slightly quieter nile view rooms however the rooms that face the road are very loud and the mosque across the road starts prayer service at 5am. We paid extra money and upgraded to the suites which are clearly the newer part of the hotel. Much quieter. Even when we attempted to pay them the extra money to change rooms it all seemed like too much of a hassle. I wouldn't pay the money again, it seems that there are better accommodation options, unless you are on a tour then you seem pretty safe as you will probably get a suite.

Excellent hotel, ideal location right on the Nile River. Free wi-fi in lobby lounge is excellent and allows one to keep up with world events comfortably. Would stay at again

The Isis is conveniently located for sightseeing in Luxor. There is a small Sheesha cafe just outside the hotel where to watch the sunset over the Nile. When it comes to the service, The Isis loses most of his charm. People often have to ask for things more than once and, even so, might end up getting them for themselves. Breakfast is really good at the Isis, but do not attempt any of the restaurants on the backyard, especially the Italian, where getting a menu can take up to 25 minutes.

located a taxi drive from the city centre or a 20min hike along a dusty, shade free, traffic polluted street. This area thankfully is now becoming a centre in itself - which is kind of good, bars & eating places close by. BUT numerous hawkers have now moved in - which is tiresome. The good bit is there is no reason to leave this hotel. inside is quite & serene. A great base to retreat to after an Egyptian off-piste experience.
